jacey j’s ‘One Thing I know is a heartfelt offering of reflective Hip hop/Pop that deals directly with a personal experience and the onset of excitement, anticipation, and everything else that comes with the expectation of this being your time to shine. jacey’s ability to present the varying emotions and levels of passion as the song moves forwards is beautifully raw yet squeaky clean! The track has a great vibe from the start, the musical backdrop has a peaceful yet epic sort of feel to it – the music seems like the building moment before a heavy drop, though it remains in this area of limbo throughout, which is unusual but fairly enjoyable.
The vocal adds a contrasting energy to the track, the voice has an urgency and intensity to it, a volume and attitude that is much more attention grabbing than the more dreamlike music that would otherwise allow you to listen and escape. The hip-hop element is strong though and in this respect the contrast has a lot of power. Plus, it’s definitely an original sort of recording – the fusion of the two genres and styles is unexpected, but works well.
The hook melody stays with you as any great song’s hook should, and the music surrounding these moments, creates a compelling and powerful vibe. The track is short, just over two minutes makes it notably shorter than many of it’s peers, but the positive effect of this is that it leaves you wanting to hear more, which is a pretty great feeling to pass on to your audience.
