New York rap is creeping on a come up- or make that a come back! J-info & Davey Jonez are repping the city where rap was born…
‘I Don’t Need Nobody’ hit me as instant hit – not only is this track lyrically Phenomenal but it is catchy as hell!“I don’t need nobody – to mess me up / I don’t need nobody – I can do this all by myself” Then it goes on to say “Sick and tired of being sick and tired – too many let downs” This track pulls on some emotional cords when you think about the struggle of unsigned artists – not just in New York, but all over the globe. Basically, they’re like STOP! Enough is enough, it’s bad enough and I don’t you to help struggle… We got this! It’s a unique twist from what we may be used to hearing young artists rap about these days.
Listening to these young artists is like breathing a breathe of fresh air… I can fully respect when an artist is real and stays true to their roots and sheds light on what is actually going on enternally, emotionally.. At first, I laughed a little when I heard this track the first time..(Nothing funny about it) but, becuase I was like “Finally” …I think I said that loudly too on the Subway! Oh well.. this is New York.
“…It’s never the way that planned it – want something done? / Do it yourself.” ” Men lie / women lie – they sneaky” “Mom still on my case / Haters in my face”Got Crackheads next door / leading the roaches into my place”
Yes, yes, …this is New York…
Overall, this is an amzing track from a couple of amazing artists and we’re going to keep a close on these two. J-info & Davey Jonez are set to ring bells all along the east coast. Stay tuned and check back for more!

Exclusive Interview:
Exposed Vocals: How did you hear about Exposed Vocals? What made you decide to sign up?
Davey: We heard about Exposed Vocals through our producer King Xtra and we really liked what you guys were doing for up and coming artists so we decided to sign up.
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
Info: Well we both grew up in the same neighborhood in Flatbush Brooklyn. We’ve known each other since high school we met through our producer who is also Davey’s cousin. And music has always been a big part of our lives we would have cyphers at Davey’s house and record tracks at xtra’s house just messing around with it before we knew this was something we wanted to do as a career.
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
Info: (laughs) Well my name is Jude and I always knew a lot of pointless info and things normal everyday kids wouldn’t care or think about so my friends started calling me J-info
Davey: Well how I got my name my real name is David Jones and it’s pretty common so I decided to switch it up a little and Davey just had a different ring to it.
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
Info: I think online music sharing is great when done the right way it can definitely help you build your fan base.
Davey: We haven’t given away anything away for free as of yet but we’re working on a mixtape that will be free and I think it’s a great way to introduce people to our sound without having to pay. We hope to impress enough one day where we can make a living but first we want to connect with our core and we don’t need a couple of dollars getting in the way.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Davey: Well the only proven method for us is researching and finding companies such as you guys who give up and coming acts a chance to showcase their talent. You have to have a strong social network presence that will definitely help get you more shows and exposure.
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
Info: We get our song writing inspiration from real life experiences. Our first single “I Don’t Need Nobody” is a perfect example of that because we got to that point where we saw how unsupportive your own friends and family can be until you start to make things happen for yourself.
Davey: Our writing process usually consists of me info and xtra a bottle of white henny (laughs) and reality biting you know.
Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?
Info: We don’t have an official website yet but you can catch us on Facebook.com/New90z Instagram @j_info @every1jonez twitter@new90zmusic.
Davey: As far as platforms we share music on youtube has been very good to us we also use facebook soundcloud reverb nation and a couple of others we can’t think about right now we everywhere.
Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?
Davey: Well I’m not embarrassed about anything I listen to I think it all helps my creative process in some way at the end of the day.
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
Info: I would invest the money in a couple of businesses and spend it on making music and the right promo to get our music out there to the masses.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
Davey: We research the topic a lot but I feel facebook and youtube are the two platforms that we receive the most positive feedback from.
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
Info: I would definitely have to say with biggie at the Barclays because it’s a Brooklyn thing (laughs)
Davey: (laughs) Yea I most definitely agree.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
Davey: Yea we have the mixtape we’re currently working on that should be out in late march or early April we’re also planning on dropping an ep sometime in June.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
Info: If I wasn’t making music I would be a pilot.
Davey: If I wasn’t making music I would be doing something in entertainment I just like to entertain.
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
Davey Jonez: Well the best way to do that is to schedule and plan it’s definitely not easy
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2015?
Info: Fans should look for more music and visuals but until then make sure you check out I Don’t Need Nobody there’s more to come.
