Ingrid Smith Bless You My Child (Feat. Sarah) “a level of realness that is impossible to ignore.”
This is a fresh new release that takes the character and intensity of Ingrid Smith’s sound and style and fuses it with something quite uniquely contrasted. The featured vocal has a certain manic energy and intense flow that brings something new and unapologetically real to the scene. There are so many lyrics to follow along, and the weight of these sections holds additional impact due to the apparent lightness and space involved in the surrounding ones. The two voices are equally distinct and loaded with individuality. They’re so different to each other, but they both fit effectively into this particular musical setting and mood, they play off each other well.
The energy of the track has a little of that classic eighties rhythm and movement, there’s an added effect or glimmer of additional vocal inclusion floating in the backdrop, and this adds a fairly atmospheric and ambient element to the mix. There’s a little of a lot of different things here, but you take it all as one complete piece of art, and the rising intensity and energy of the whole thing makes for a memorable few minutes of listening.
It’s always a pleasure to hear Ingrid Smith’s artistry and performance style, and everything new that has come along with this particular release helps really light it up and offers a completely new angle, potentially reaching out to a whole new audience in the process. The lyrics explicitly deal with a certain truth and depth that is invaluable and adds a level of realness that is impossible to ignore. Again, between the story telling of the verses and the warmth and hope of the hook, of Ingrid’s part, there’s a whole circle of life sentiment that comes through with great strength.
