“hook section is powerful” Prince J – Commas
“the sort of music that just gets you, knows what you need to hear, makes you feel less stressed and less inclined to rush around or worry about getting things done quickly.”
The musical backdrop to this track is really interesting. It sets a pretty relaxed vibe, though the intro suggests a little more than that, and the leading vocal that follows is one that adds to the calmness pretty significantly.
The energy of the vocal performance picks up a little as the song progresses, it’s a good contrast, but it’s not quite as effective as the calmer performance. The hook section is powerful as it just seems to fit well within the music and each compliments and enhances the other. Even so, it’s good to keep things moving and evolving, and that’s what the varying vocal styles offer. It shows a little bit of variation, an ability to work with different styles and even genres, and that’s always a good thing.
The production is superb throughout, the beat is appealing and creative, and in fact the artist’s leading voice has a great tone to it, with confident yet easy to listen to delivery of those lyrics. It’s all really well mixed so as to bring out the best in each moment, and as mentioned, it’s a track you can relax to, it has that calming ambiance of classic hip-hop – the sort of music that just gets you, knows what you need to hear, makes you feel less stressed and less inclined to rush around or worry about getting things done quickly. The music alone is interesting enough to bring listeners back for more, and if the artist has something different to say, it’s a good style to go with – the calmness leaves you the space to really hear what’s being talked about. Prince J has a great voice, so this too makes the music more likely to hold your attention or at least entertain you throughout.
