“holds true to much of the original essence and emotion” Let it go **COVER** by jillian Sabina
Jillian’s version of ‘Let it Go’ holds true to much of the original essence and emotion of the song. The performance is very up close and personal, and this allows you to really hear every moment and every note and emotion within the recording. The artist sings brilliantly. It’s a difficult song to sing, for most, a complex performance style, but the artist does it well and with great conviction. There’s an element of vulnerability early on, but it quickly fades as the whole thing develops and evolves.
The bridge section features some phenomenal vocal skills, and soon afterwards the realisation that this is a live performance adds a huge amount of value to the piece. The musical backdrop is pretty much the familiar sound from the film, the effect of which is still that you really focus on the vocal, the lyrics, the feeling presented and expressed throughout, and this is quite stunning when you consider the one-take, caught in the moment nature of it all. The vulnerability that you can hear early on is actually quite endearing, and as it does fairly quickly evolve into a strength and an undeniable confidence, the abilities of the artist are underlined and emphasised even further.
It’s a great performance, and if you can sing a well known and complex track such as this, with confidence and skill and still have it sound very emotional and real, you’re likely to be able to sing just about anything that comes you way. Hopefully there’s much more to look forward to from Jillian Sabina in the near future. There’s a sense of character to her voice that suggests a few more songs, perhaps an original, would seal the sound as hers and make it all the more recognisable.
