GO THE OTHER WAY, CALLED THE ECHO
Today, New York’s indie darling LPX, the DIY solo project of artist Lizzy Plapinger (Neon Gold Records co-founder, lead singer MS MR) is releasing her third EP, called Go The Other Way, Called The Echo produced by Mike Irish (Ella Jane, Maude Latour, Silver Sphere). This release comes hot on the heels of a prominent sync in Amazon Prime’s superhero animated show, Invincible, which features her anthem “Might Not Make it Home”.
Go The Other Way, Called The Echo is, aptly titled, a record about the process of finding, navigating and staying true to your own calling and direction. In her own words, “I believe we all have the ability to course correct our lives anytime, however many times over, if we’re brave enough to listen to, trust and act on what we want. These songs are a reflection of the growing pains (both highs and lows) that come with those choices, the obstacles we overcome to make it so, and the joy and growth that comes in the wake of tackling them head on.”
This colorful EP finds Lizzy seamlessly bobbing and weaving between indie, pop, new wave, grunge and punk creating a kaleidoscopic landscape all her own. Featuring two new songs: lead single, “Reason in The Noise”, a delicious and joyful affirming soundtrack for forgiving, returning to and choosing oneself. As well as “Deadweight”, a song about about cutting out the people, places and/or things that hold you back from moving forward. It also includes previously released singles “New Mood”, “Delayed Gratification”, and “My Best”, as well as a roaring and cheeky in studio cover of “Deceptacon” by Le Tigre – a fan favorite as performed live on the road while touring with artists like Haim, MØ, Donna Missal, Glass Animals, X Ambassadors, Marina, Bloc Party and more. She was originally booked to support both Maggie Rogers and Carly Rae Jepsen around former singles releases in 2020, postponed due to COVID.
There will be a much-anticipated return to the stage on Friday, May 28th, where LPX will play live at Brooklyn’s first NFT art exhibition at La Casa Arthouse. The performance will also be live-streamed and turned into an NFT in collaboration with La Casa which will be released for sale afterwards. More information here.
The EP will also be accompanied in the coming weeks by a unique hand painted furniture collaboration with local NYC vintage store ReUse America Vintage – as well as limited edition DIY merch, live performance videos, music videos and visualizers. All elements reflect the core ideology at the heart of this EP, Lizzy’s belief in the possibility of the reality we are capable of creating for ourselves.

Praise for LPX:
“Plapinger powerfully transforms hard feelings into a positive life-affirming pep talk with “New Mood” – all delivered with a fierce energy that would make Karen O proud” – Coup De Main
“Everything she’s written—from the two recently released EPs and the already planned third EP and subsequent LP—has throngs of screaming fans and warm night air in mind” – PLAYBOY
“[Might Not Make It Home] is a vintage sounding tune, with blunt scuzzy guitar that recalls the full-bodied, primal energy of The Strokes and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, while its bright atmospheric swells put Arcade Fire and Wolf Parade flavors on your tongue, all perked up by buoyant boom-clap pop beat a la the modern Top 40 acts like Charli XCX and Icona Pop, whose magic she helped discover.” – PAPER
“She’s a fully formed star, one who has reimagined the slick grooves and addictive hooks of contemporary pop into a harsh and fiercely immediate expression of emotion and sound, without losing the melodic appeal of the genre. In other words, it’s goddamned great… It’s rare to get to witness a new artist emerge fully formed, ready to conquer the world; Junk Of The Heart is a miniature masterpiece, and LPX is just getting started.” – AV CLUB
“Plapinger’s vivid style is just the visual manifestation of her role in indie music right now, and it proves she’s a force to be reckoned with.” – Vogue
“’Tightrope’ [is] a left field pop gem that blasts with fuzzed-out energy and emotion, recalling the likes of Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Klaxons, and The Strokes.” – Billboard
“The female half of MS MR is going solo. If “Tremble” is any indicator, her EP is gonna be one hell of a pop-banger release!” – Ed Droste in Entertainment Weekly
