G Herbo Sentenced to Probation in Wire Fraud Case, Avoids Prison Time
G Herbo, whose real name is Herbert Wright, managed to avoid prison and was sentenced to three years of probation in Massachusetts District Court after pleading guilty to wire fraud charges. The charges stemmed from an alleged scheme where stolen credit card information was used for various extravagant expenses, including private jet excursions, vacations, car rentals, and even purchasing “designer puppies.”
As part of the sentencing, G Herbo is required to pay $139,968 in restitution for purchases related to the scheme, forfeit the same amount, and pay a $5,500 fine. The sentencing outcome was a significant victory for G Herbo, considering that prosecutors had initially sought at least a year in prison, along with supervised release and a fine.
The rapper’s legal situation involved allegations that he and five associates, including promoter Antonio Strong, used stolen credit cards to defraud businesses and individuals. The charges included conspiracy to commit wire fraud and making false statements to a federal official.
Despite the legal challenges, G Herbo continued to focus on his music career, releasing albums and mixtapes during the period of his legal troubles.
