Exposed Vocas just caught up with Bronx hip hop artist ‘John J’ – Full Interview and Review
Hailing from the Bronx, John J is one of the best kept secrets in underground hip hop. The passionate emcee rocks the mic with a unique style, reminiscent of 90s era golden age flows mixed with a new twist— heavy, meaningful lyrics and a powerful delivery. Inspired by the greats, Tupac, Nas, Joe Budden, AZ and Jay Z, John J is a force to be reckoned with, one any real hip hop head should be following closely.

Stronger Ft Shauna Cardwell – Track Review
The Bronx lyricist John J comes from a place where what you say matters. Home to hip hop, the Bronx is where John found his love, passion and desire to create authentic music with a message, slick word play, lyricism and metaphors. Overall, this is a fantastic hip hop track that manages to combine first class beats and production with super intelligent and socially aware lyrics like:
“Raw Emotion / It’s all I ever knew… / Out Spoken / No Trojan when I talk to you”
This is an inspiring and enjoyable hip-hop track that will be popular with John J’s existing fanbase and should bring him some new ones. With strong production and a catchy, commercial hook it is also very well suited to radio. Couple that with this amazing video with such intense visuals, and I think John Jay may have a hit on his hands. We at Exposed Vocals hope he finds a lot of success with it.
We give it an 8.5/10
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
I’m from the Bronx new York. I started off writing love notes in poem as has a very young kid for girls lol. Years later i would freestyle with friends for fun and I was always told I said somthing deep so i started writing it down… it took years but I’m what I am now.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
I’m still trying to get bigger myself. But stay true to yourself and people will follow. Waves settle, true music wont.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
You gotta just keep going and act like it didn’t happen. Hopefully they’re drunk enough to not notice lol
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
Not at the moment
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
I’m pretty good with what i have and use. More mastering techniques is what I’m aiming for.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
Social media has been a big help. I stay very active and you gotta love auto share to all sites lol.
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
Tupac. The man’s my idol
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
Well, that’s why we’re here. Pain to Power is out now on all platforms
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
I have a 9 to 5 right now. The money isn’t there yet for me in music but music is a part of me
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in the next year or so?
Same as what I always do. You’ll get a tone of free music with a project in between.
Exposed Vocals: Any Shout-outs?
For sure. Kxng Crooked from slaughter house. I don’t think I would have moved forward this fast if we never did those songs.
