Yung Irb: I heard about exposed vocals through a representative contacting inquiring about my music.
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
Yung Irb: Well, I come from a big city called Philadelphia Pa. Born and raised. Spending most of my youth days tryna make it on the basketball court.. I started rapping at 12 but decided to stop and focus on basketball until bout 20 years old when life started to hit me hard. Then rap came back into my life like a destiny and I been going strong since.
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
Yung Irb: the name is all original just like me. I’m jus a young real bull tryna get it, that’s where the “Yung” come from, and Irb is jus a what everyone called my my whole life because of my last name, and that’s where “Yung Irb” the rapper come from.
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free?
Why?
Yung Irb: Online music sharing is essential for any upcoming artist and any main artist, you have to keep your buzz alive. I give my music out for free online alot because the world need to hear my talent first inorder to want it. Then once the world accept you and wants your craft constantly that’s when it becomes a job with dividends.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Yung Irb: Advise I would give to another artist that’s trying to make it, stay consistent. Keep working hard no matter what haters say, because once you get discouraged that’s when you fail. If you want airtime and gigs, promote promote, Until you get it. And spend your money in the right areas that need it cus its alot of scammers.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
Yung Irb: Yea no doubt. It was a time where me and Shizzy .P (of THC) had a show in Philly and we were on our way driving from Altoona Pa. to Philly (4hr trip), on the way there the track that we were to perform deleted, and all was left was a hook. We couldn’t cancel or change the song, so we had to go on stage and make it work and put the nerves of messing up aside, because the show always must go on.
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
Yung Irb: As of right now I have not been touring, I’m still an underground artist and my main focus right now is getting my buzz right first.
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
Yung Irb: To be honest I don’t even have a process. I don’t write my words down. Everything I rap about is based on my view of life through my eyes. So whenever I’m in the studio I listen to the beats then I pick on and I think of the hook and record it, then I think of my verses and record it, and that’s how all of my songs are created.
