Exposed Vocals just sat down with Southern California Recording Artist ‘Vador’
My name is Vador. I’m a young artist from Southern California, I’m just trying to buy my mom a house, grow and improve on my craft. I start doing it today, because tomorrow is never promised to anyone.
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
I’m a 17- year-old from a small town in California called Northshore right next to the Salton Sea, it’s a lonely but peaceful place. There’s really nothing to do other than off-roading and hiking. I come from a family of musicians, my uncles would play and still do. Since we lived together, I was exposed to music and instruments since I can remember. So music is embedded into my life, I feel like it’s apart of me. A HUGE part of me.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
I’m still on those beginning stages, but yeah sure I’ll give them some tips. Uh… have connections, you know friendships. Make yourself friends with the local artists from your area, it will help you expose your music to a wider audience. From there you might get people to want you to perform at their parties or something.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
I’ve only performed a few times, but that was during school events. Since I am involved in drama heavily, I’ve performed on a school plays. Yeah I had to sing and dance, i like it. When I make a mistake I just keep on going and not stop or freak out, because then people will notice that you’ve messed up and maybe laugh at you.
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
Tour? I haven’t toured yet. But I hope interesting things happen when I do.
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
Right now I’m working with my brothers laptop and my $30 microphone. It ain’t nothing fancy, but it gets the job done. Right now I’m planning on building a studio with one of my friends. But it takes time and money.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
I use social media and my schoolmates. They listen to it and some like it, some hate, others just give me feedback which I appreciate. They share it around and people just listen you know.
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
I would like to perform in Atlanta with Migos and the whole QC crew or New York with Cole and the Dreamville family. They’re my favorite artists and Atlanta has had heavy influence on the rap game for the past decade or so. New York is just a great place.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
At the moment I just released a new single titled “Hit Me Up”, which is off my upcoming EP “Krow”. I’m working on my debut album. Whole lot of work, but it will be worth it. I am also managing a local Coachella Valley rap trio; Southside Wholigans. They my boys, and I want good things for them. On top of that, I’m running my independent label; Discreet Records. We’re all about the artists, we doing it like the 90’s, developing artists.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
Managing, and running my label.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in the next year or so?
My debut album and some other hidden treasures.
