Exposed Vocals just sat down to an exclusive interview with David “Da vYto” Williams
Gearing up for his mixtape release, David “Da vYto” Williams is ready to take hip-hop to next level. His quick wit and timely delivery is bound to have him at the top in the Hip-hop. Da vYto was born in the heart of Atlanta and raise on Atlanta’s Southside. His love for music develops from a lifetime of musical influence. Growing up in a talented musical family allowed Da vYto to appreciate different musical genres. His dad was a full-time musician and until this day, still work behind the screen in the entertainment industry, was very influential in Da vYto music quest. However, as Atlanta music seen grew, Da vYto began to admire some of the great rappers from his city, such as T. I and Ludacris. Their success sparked Da vYto to begin writing lyrics at the age of 14. His music reflects the changes and challenges of everyday life. With tracks like “24”, that portrays the hustle of everyday life, Da vYto is definitely the one to look out for in this industry. Da vYto has collaborated with Big Hood Entertainment for his mix tape release.
Exclusive interview
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
Da vYto: I am from Atlanta Georgia and I was primary raised on the Southside of Atlanta. I rotated between East point and Clayton County as a kid. I grow up in a talented musical family with my father being a musician and still do a lot of work in the music industry to this day I was bound to take an interest in music as a career. I was always surround by good music but as hip hop greats such as T.I, Ludacris, Dungeon family and Cash Money started releasing them hits my Love for hip hop began to grow. Once I recorded my first track, I knew hip-hop was life.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Da vYto: There is no I in team so remember your team is just as important to your success. Also, never stop grinding not all gigs pay so sometimes it is just about exposure. It is important to get your music out there by all means necessary.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
Da vYto: We all make mistakes here and there myself included. However, just keep going more than likely the audience don’t realize you made a mistake. They just want to hear the music.
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
Da vYto: I have not toured for my music as of yet but I have seen some interesting things touring with my dad. I am going to save this question for our next interview. By that time, I will have stories from my own tour.
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
Da vYto: In order to stay relevant, you have to stay abreast of what is new in the industry. Currently, my producer Biggs with Big Hood Ent uses avid Pro Tools 2018.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
Da vYto: I grind 24 hours 7 days a week. I do paid and unpaid shows and I try to be social at events to create networking opportunities for people to hear my music. Social media has played a big part in reaching a wider audience as well.
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
Da vYto: I would love to have the opportunity to perform with 2 Pac, Biggie and Easy E. However, I think it would be great to perform and have a performance at the 2019 Super bowl half-time show with Atlanta’s all-star hip-hop artists.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
Da vYto: I will be releasing a mixtape soon. I am going to promote that project as much as possible to create new opportunities to get my music out there.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
Da vYto: Music is in my blood so it probably would be something in music behind the scenes.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in the next year or so?
Da vYto: My fans can look forward to seeing more of me. I have some great music soon to be released and I will be out there touring and promoting non-stop.
