Exposed Vocals just caught an interview with Surauchie Brandi Fernandes
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
My name is Surauchie Brandi Fernandes and I’m a singer-songwriter born and raised in Toronto,Canada. Ive been singing, performing and writing music since I was 7 years old and since then, I was determinded to make a name for myself. I have always been very musically inclinded and for that reason, I continue to strive for success and be a role-model for other young girls who want to follow their dreams. I aspire to inspire and I want to let others know that you can do anything you work hard for in life. Put in the work, the long hours, and stay consistant and you can accomplish anything.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
In my expierence, it is very hard when you first start out in the music industry. You either have connections to get your music played everywhere, or you have to go out and find them yourself, so it really depends on your circumstances. If you’re like me and had to go out and find my own connections, than all the advice that I can give is keep going. Keep putting in that work, keep going out and finding people to hear you because nobody is going to put in as much effort for you other than you. Be your biggest fan, be optimistic, be hard working and most importantly, be patient. Success for most don’t happen over night and you have to understand that your jounrey is going to be a very long process and you will hear a lot of no’s. Take each negative comment with a grain of salt and believe in what you’re doing. #keepitpushing
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
All the time. Sometimes i get so nervous that my voice starts to shake and I feel my feet against the ground. You have to fake it to make it and play it off like you don’t care about how to audience perciveves you. Understand that everyone in the audience came to see you and just do the best that you can. You’ll be surprised on how well your performance goes when you just do your best.
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
I haven’t reached a point in my career yet to tour but i have faith that I will soon.
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
I have a home studio with good enough equipment to make my music sound good quality.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
I try to use social media to my advantage so I try to reach out to other social media influencers to help me promote as well.
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
I would be honoured to go on tour and perform with Beyonce because she is the main reason why I started making music. When I was about six or seven, my mom started buying me Beyonce and Destiny child albums and because we didn’t have internet growing up or smartphones I couldn’t just look up the lyrics to songs. So what I would do is I would listen to the song in 5 second intervals and within those five seconds, i’d write down the lyrics and I would do that to everyone of her songs. She inspired me to become who I am today.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
Definietly! I have many new music and prjects in store for the world. Look forward to my released towards the end of 2017.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
I’d be a bum. I would probably be nowhere in life, and have no aspirations in anything. Music saved my life.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in the next year or so?
People should look forward into watching my growth and watching how much I will evolve. They should be looking out for music videos, vlogs and my overal come up.
Exposed Vocals: Any Shout-outs?
Shout out to my producer Prodbyangel. Without him I would have not accomplished any of the things I have accomplished so far. My producer helped me develop my own sound, and for that I will be forever grateful. I also would like to thank a youtuber named HeyParis for broadcasting my music on all of her platforms and for helping me get to the next level in life.
