Exposed Vocals just caught an interview with Harlem’s Floyd Mayweather of hip hop ” Hooly’
Harlem, NY. has produced quite a few hip hop greats in the past 20 years. Big L in the early 90’s and Mason Betha in the late 90’s, early 2000’s. Now It’s Hooly”s turn. Born Levon Robbins, “Novel “Hooly” da’ Goat” , is the first from the Hooligan crew to make the jump into mainstream hip hop. The Hooligans have been grinding over the past 10 years on the NYC hip hop music underground.
Soon the world will know what the streets of “uptown” have known for years. Hooly has the potential to be Harlem’s Floyd Mayweather of hip hop. The heavily animated, high pitch voice latches to the ear like a pit bull . Armed with an assortment of catchy, melodies

Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
grew up in Harlem and from young like most kids music pulled me. I fell in love with melodies and different genre’s of music and next thing I know it went from playing around freestyling to recording vocals and the rest was history
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
I would say hit up open mics, hit up the clubs, and be everywhere. Get on music sites, and along as you stay consistent and hungry opportunities will present themselves
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
I have def made a few mistakes but I would say pull through it and learn from your mistakes to get better next time, in this business failing helps you succeed. Learn how to hold the mic, work on your breath control and know your lyrics. Practice and preparation will make all the difference to know how to move that crowd. Keep water nearby, if the stage lights bother you then have some shades handy .
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
I have not been on a consecutive tour yet but from throwing a few of my own parties and shows in Florida one of the funniest moments was when this drunk white girl jumped on stage trying to grab the mic and she was boooozed up busting her ass cause she could barely stand up.
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
Currently record most my songs in the crib using pro tools 10, a tlm49 mic and a RME baby face audio interface. I want to upgrade to the u87 nueman with the Avalon which would be about 6-8k upgrade but would be a huge upgrade in the sound quality.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
Atm sound cloud, before I revamped the brand YouTube was the main promo tool. I promote by liking and checking out other people music and a lot of the time they will check out my music.
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
I would love to perform with outlast and outang clan at a Hoolyville carnival
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
finishing up a new mix tape for Oct release with my new single Litboi, shooting 2 videos in Aug and a listening session will be sept 9th
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
maybe learning to code apps, and putting more time into the new VR wave that’s coming
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in the next year or so?
