Exposed Vocals just caught an interview with Dj Fresh Kid
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an Artist?
Dj Fresh Kid: I was born in Denver, Colorado but I was basically raised in California. I think what mostly drove me to be a producer and a DJ was just the love and the escape music provided me, my mom had me when she was a kid herself so my life was tough sometime, at 4yrs old I had a drum set that my mom bought me and I would play it for hours to let my mind escape to the point where I eventually put a hole in one of my drums, I also was given a mini piano and I loved to play with that too. I was put to sleep as a baby listening to old school music and even to this day I still do. I looked up to producers like Dr.Dre and Timbaland, I love their style and the layers they put on the music. It sounds so beautiful to me.
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
DJ Fresh Kid: Me and my mom were brainstorming on names one day and I had originally came up with DJ Fresh but a lot of people have that name branded already so my mom was like “Why not, DJ Fresh Kid: and it has stuck with me ever since then.
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
DJ Fresh Kid: I think online music sharing is cool and a good way to get exposure but when it comes to business it can get dangerous. Anyone can loop your song or take off your vocals and call it their own. Also I don’t think ill give away music just because I put hard work and time into my songs and I believe it should get some type of respect and appreciation. Although if the rare case in which I do give away music for free, it would have to benefit me heavily.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or Artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
DJ Fresh Kid: I think social media would be the biggest helping tool for anyone looking to get into music and booking jobs. Just keep up with your page and always be telling people about your page.. just lots of networking.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
