Exposed Vocals just caught an exclusive with ‘TheASide’ “Talks new single ‘Cupid’ [112 Remake]
On vinyl, TheASide had the hits, the bsides were album fillers. The term “TheASide” is also affiliated with things that are top notch. Members Isaiah Elizalde 22 and Evan Gonzalez 23 have positioned themselves to live up to that name. TheASide are the audio/visual embodiment of youth, culture and energy. Each with their own style and voice, the members’ unique talents juxtapose to create a relatable yet inspirational music group. Also intriguing is that both members of TheASide are of Latin American heritage. The Latin American demographic is the fastest growing, largest spending and most consumer engaged in the country. Every major brand, network and studio is racing to tap into this unprecedented spending power. TheASide with their R&B POP undertone have a mission to be the first Latin American Duo to market.
‘Cupid’ by:
“Cupid” is a hit single by R&B band 112 from their self-titled debut album. The single reached #13 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts and #2 on the Billboard R&B charts and is platinum-certified. Overall, this is an excellent single featuring consistently strong vocal performances by ‘TheASide’ This is a highly enjoyable and inventive reinterpretation of the original ‘Cupid’ rather than a standard remix, which surely seems destined to become a massive hit in the clubs. It will help to introduce a new kind of audience to the music of both Isaiah Elizalde and Evan Gonzalez and might even become the definitive version for which this song is known. You could well be hearing it a lot this summer, with any justice. We had a chance to sit down with the TheASide and talk about this single and future projects as well. Check it out!
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
TheASide: Where do we start?? haha. We grew up in Orange County Ca. People hear that and think “DISNEYLAND” but there’s so much more than that. We grew up in culture, in diversity and not with a silver spoon in our hands. We are cousins so we can use “we” cause our path is pretty similar. We decided to become artists cause the art chose us. Ever since we were kids music was a part of our lives. My dad (Isaiah, member of The ASide) has dabbled in the music business and was once an aspiring artist so its been around us our whole lives. We just want to be good to music and give the art it all we got!
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
TheASide: One thing that has helped us is to take “one step at a time.” As start up artists, we want it all to happen TODAY! Lol we want what Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars & Drake have “today.” We seem to forget or completely block out the process it took for them to get where they are today. But one step toward your goals is a step closer you were before you took it. So do every interview, perform at every party you can, reach out to every local college station or whatever. Just take steps.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
TheASide: YES! How you handle that is, keep going. Maybe you’re the only one who noticed it. And if its a BIG mistake, then just remember all the greats have had mishaps, you’re now just part of the fam.
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
TheASide: No touring as of yet, but we are looking forward to it. Our new single CUPID is getting a lot of buzz. Its definitely a step in the right direction.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
TheASide: As of now, we are doing any and everything. We take nothing for granted. One more follower, one more fan, one more play on any platform is more than what we had before. I think what works best is to have your music available everywhere. It increases your chances to acquire a fan.
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
TheASide: whoo! Michael Jackson, Prince, Boyz II Men, Justin Timberlake, Jay Z, Marvin Gaye & New Edition. Where? Anywhere. Why? Cause those artists along with others are the epitome of everything we aspire to be.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
TheASide: We are in the studio, working on new music.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
TheASide: Dancing. We do that now, but I think it would be our go-to if it wasn’t music.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in the next year or so?
TheASide: Look forward to more music. We are giving it all we got and we have an awesome team behind us who work right along side us everyday.
Exposed Vocals: Any Shout-outs?
TheASide: Our production team the “SOULBOTS” & those who choose to ride the wave with us in this beginning stage. And shoutout to all the dreamers. Dreams can come true if you follow them. Much Love.
