Exposed Vocals just caught an exclusive with Laura Mendes
Laura Mendes was born in France from Portuguese parents. She spent a happy and loving childhood, surrounded by her siblings, to whom she has always been very close.
Immersed in the world of music from a very early age, she soon feels particular interest in singing, mainly by discovering musicals such as High School Musical. Laura sees in her family an inexhaustible source of inspiration and motivation. In fact, her parents have always encouraged and supported her in all her artistic choices.
Of a discreet nature, Laura is a sensitive artist, who reveals her emotions through her passion for music. It is a real mean of expression and emancipation for her. Laura has very eclectic musical tastes and receives various influences, including from her favourite artist Demi Lovato, who she deeply admires for the quality of her high artistic work.
Her album is a reflection of this variety of sounds and legacies.
Her world is surrounded by universal themes such as the death, the departure of a loved one, the breakup. She rejects and does not hesitate to denounce all forms of injustice and selfishness.
Laura has a determined temperament and she always works tirelessly on her artistic projects to achieve her objectives.
Aware that only labor is the real key to success, she provides all the necessary means to surpass herself because, as she points out so well: “Nothing happens for nothing.”
The year 2015 marked a turning point in the career of Laura. She met Sergio, artistic producer, who encounters her thanks to the social network Facebook.
He is immediately impressed by the strength of her performances and the emotion she transmits. He proposes her to begin collaboration with the Paris studio Hedayat Music as in order to prepare her new album.

Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
Laura Mendes: I grow up in a little town in France, not so far of Paris. I never really decide to become an artist. It was just a little girl dream at first. But growing up, it was more a wish and I always wanted to know how it is to be a singer, an real artist. So I start to sing at Portuguese parties and my mom filmed all my interpretations and she put all the videos on Facebook. And that’s like this that Sergi, my actual producter, find me, I did a casting, then I was chosed by the production. Lot of feelings at the same time to be honest.I’m a young girl, I was only fifteen.
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
Laura Mendes: Laura is my real name, and I always loved Mendes as a surname. I think this is very classy, and I think that it’s look very find with my name too. I don’t have any inspiration behind this name, and with it, people know that I’m protuguese.
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
Laura Mendes: I think that online music sharing is cool because you always have the time to share, comment, and like the music who’s in. Today, people always have a smartphone in hand, and people share everything. So I think that sharing my music online is good for me, and for my fans too. It’s a very pratical system.

Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
Laura: I’m learning the jo, so of course that I’ve made mistakes on stage. It’s not easy when you start all this so young. But I do my best during my perfoms and it what it counts more. I’m proud of me after anyway. Mistakes are human.
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
Laura: I catch my songwriting inspiration simply in my own head, or sometimes in my mood, sometimes I think about the life problems. I sometimes imagine a love story, or a sad story that is not mine. And I write everything that comes to me on a paper. It can be the day at ten am, or in the middle of the night at two. I love writing, and not only songs.
Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?
Laura: Yes I have, like all artists. You just had to tape on google, “Laura Mendes†and you’ll find the As Prod site, and also my videos and my six musics. To share my music, my production use a lot of them. It is on spotify, Itunes, youtube, dailymotion, google music, deezer, facebook..

Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?
Laura: Really embarrassing songs?.. Okay, don’t laugh, but I already have High school musical songs on my playlist music. That’s all my childhood!

Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
Laura : I surely give money to my family, they are all my life.. And I think that if I got money already, I spend it on charity associations. People needs help.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
 The better ways to promote my musics are Lives of course! I can promote my channel on stage, and I can talk with the public, even if I’m a little shy, I control myself good. Anyway, I think music is more appreciated in real if it’s a very good beat at this moment.

Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
Laura: My bigger dream is to sing at Olympia’s stage with the biggest one, Demi Lovato. Oh my god, I love this woman so much. I admire her since I’m 10. She’s impressive. Her vocal ability is so incredible! She’s a model. Demetria, if you hear me, I am you French fan number one, love you.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
Laura: I wanna take all the projects like surprises for my fans. But things are coming, don’t worry about this.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
Laura: If I we’rent making music, I would working with children. I like them a lot. I’m studing at at the moment to have a degree for doing this out of music. I will not leave school until I have it.
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
Laura: I think that it’s hard to not give up. When you are a young woman, who’s already growing, learning about life it’s very emotionally hard. And to be honest, i am an emotionally young woman, I’m sensitive like all sixteen girls. In this age, you want to go out, you want a boyfriend.. And when you’re on music, you don’t have always the time to do it all. But I take this on me, and it’s normal that it’s hard. All job can become hard. But if the job is not made for you, you have to stop, because you deserve a good job, a good life. Be happy, that’s a priority in life.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in the next year or so?
The fans should be very attentive at all my shares. I have so many surprises for you all. I wanted to say to my fans that I love them so much. Here I am a singer, and it because of you!
