Exposed Vocals just caught an exclusive interview with Indipop Singer ‘Vishal Chaturvedi’
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
Vishal: I grew up in a small town of UP and later shifted to the capital, Lucknow. Lucknow is known for music, art and its cultural legacy which is how I got introduced to music. I joined a music school when I was 16 and within a couple of years was performing on stage-mainly college gigs.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Vishal: So the music scene in India is really tough and Bollywood takes up most of the scene. Music companies are not backing up independent artists, so the only thing which can make a difference is digital presence. It’s been long since I last played on stage because I had mainly been focusing on filmmaking so I cant give many tips to young artist to get gigs. LOL may be next year!
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
Vishal: Yes, forgetting lyrics is the most common one. I end up singing similar words which rhyme and makes sense to the song so it generally goes unnoticed.
Exposed Vocals: How did you shoot your first video? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
Vishal: Sid, who is my partner in crime and also a session guitarist/composer, asked me to shoot this song after hearing me jam to it one day. So I thought why not? Because I’m a professional video director, it was not a tough task for me. We thought of shooting a simple video but we ended up shooting at the most difficult and most beautiful terrain of India- Ladakh. We had an amazing and unforgettable time in Ladakh. From extreme climate changes to windy roads and even probable extra terrestrial experiences, it was an experience we can never forget.
Exposed Vocals: What are you working with now?Vishal: We are working on our next single ‘Na Jane Kis Mod Pe’.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
Vishal: : Reaching out to people who are connected to you through social media platforms is one way. Releasing your video thru various different social media platforms separately is another. You can always tie up with pages, blogs and handles, or even collaborate and reach out to brands. Asking for support and partnership can also work.
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
Vishal: Lucky Ali, Mohit Chauhan and Bryan Adams…. because I grew up listening to them. They are the inspiration to my music!
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
Vishal: Our next project “Na Jane Kis Mod Pe” which we recorded last month, is again a travelling track which talks metaphorically talks about life and all its unexpected adventures. We shot a bit of it in Sydney, and we will now be shooting the rest very soon.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
Vishal: I have graduated in medicine and am a doctor so I would certainly be treating people.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in the next year or so?
Vishal: I can’t call them my fans as we certainly don’t have a fan- celebrity relationship. They are more of my friends who believe in my music and support it. But definitely our next single is something to look out for!
Exposed Vocals: Any Shout-outs?
Vishal: Do subscribe my channel on youtube – YouTube/VishalChaturvedi and Follow me on insta/vishalchaturvedii and facebook/vishalchaturvedi.
