Exposed Vocals just caught an exclusive interview with ‘Dawgn’
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
Dawgn: I grew up in East Point Georgia, its a smaller suburb outside of Atlanta, home to Bigg Gipp and my dawg JOKU be on the lookout for him he’s dope. I’ve always wanted to record music ever since I was kid but was very shy and didn’t know anybody with a studio but as time continued the passion kept growing and growing i attempted to start rapping maybe at about 20 but wasn’t committed at all but about 1-2 yrs ago i met my boi Aman he took me to the studio with him and seeing him real deal motivated me to start and shoot maybe after bout 2 or 3 times going i started and shoot the rest is history after rest was history after that, big s/o to Aman foreal thats my bro for life
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
Dawgn: Shoot I didn’t come up with the name honestly my boI Jarrett did, from what i remember we was talking bout females and i just remember him saying Dane be Dawgn these hoes out here lol and thats where it came from. My inspiration for it is not necessarily just with women but it could deal with sports or your job dawgn means killlin it destroying it you dig.
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
Dawgn: I love it, it gives a chance for artist to share there music around the world, for free or for whatever yes all my music is for the free, one is because I’ve only dropped mixtape and mixtape are in most cases free music for the people for the fans and thats who I’m doing this for the fans.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Dawgn: Have the right team around you if you have the right team then nothing can stop you
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
Dawgn: yes I’ve messed up a couple time but it happens, it wasn’t anything catastrophic like forgetting the whole song just a word here and there and just keep going if you mess up most people wont notice it honestly
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
Dawgn: No I have not been on tour yet but i definitely excited for whats to come in the future should be a lot of fun and ill definitely have some stories soon.
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
Dawgn: My environment, tv shows, the internet just about everywhere and anything you can think of, if i can write a good hook for it ill make it a song, i usually start with the hook and work from there, the hook is the most important to me

Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?
Dawgn: Shoot nothing embarrassing maybe some stuff you wouldn’t expect, LMFAO has this song called La La La thats my joint that might be embarrassing to some people but i think its a dope song with a dope lyrics
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
Dawgn: id spend it on promo for my music, go to the strip and spend some, travel with some go on some cruises and safaris, invest some it shoot id live life id do a lot of stuff i haven’t done so it would be fun
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
Dawgn: None that I know of right now, just got a new mic and new laptop but other than that i do most of my recording at UnderBase Recordings ran by the big homie CTS Sounds he is and will be one of the best once its all said and done you dig
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
Dawgn: Social media is a huge help with that, eventually ill start putting some flyers around town and all that but right now just social media
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
Dawgn: shoot Biggie id love to perform with, micheal jackson, left eye i would have love to perform with and shoot location doesn’t matter wherever they are if they hit ya boy up ill go to them
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
Dawgn: gonna start dropping more videos and this joint project with Dreaminatii Ayo and hopefully do some features with some other people
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
Dawgn: probably just be working, real talk i might have gone into porn i think id been good at that
Exposed Vocals: Do you remember buying your first album? Who was it? What was going through your head?
Dawgn: The first album i bought was Aaliyah’s album before she died my sister talked me into getting it cause she wanted to listen to it as well but i had a huge crush on her so i figured why not get the album i was crazy young at the time too, i was hype to get it though i didn’t want it to leave my side ever and i felt accomplished as a kid lol
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
Dawgn: shoot just take everything day by day i don’t have that many responsibilities but i know how to pace myself its not a race to see who does everything the fastest its about longevity and pacing yourself
