Exposed Vocals just caught an exclusive with Boss Lowder & Taymond Bailey
He says he might be from earth, well one thing Taymond Bailey knows for certain is that he chose his parents and chose his blackness. Yes, he is black. Allegedly born in New Orleans, Louisiana and raised in the “burbs” Taymond has always had the strangest inclination to writing and energy. He would describe that if there were no outlets to vent all of the energy he carries in a day he surely would combust. He lives in a world all his own inviting people to take a tour anytime one of his songs makes way to an aux cord or living room stereo. He believes there are great wonders to be witness and important works to be done, and it’s his part in the grand scheme to kick some funky $hit.
Boss Lowder, originally from Fort Worth, Texas, found his way to Louisiana in his college years where his path began as a music producer. He dove deep into the world of electronic music after becoming heavily intrigued by the strange, robotic, and synthesized sounds of massive names such as Daft Punk and Deadmau5. He began to make songs of his own and experimented with various genres such as hip hop, trap music, and world music. Boss Lowder’s unique sound ensures that listeners will expect something different for each new release.
Overall, this is an intriguing project from Boss Lowder and Taymond Bailey who have melded various styles into a unique fusion that sets them apart from the generic hip hop /trap crowd. They have developed their own style which is versatile, and deserves a strong fan-base. I’d be interested to see if they can develop this approach further and deliver a full album in the more conventional sense of entirely different tracks.

Exclusive Interview
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
Boss Lowder: I grew up in Texas until about high school where I moved to South Florida. After a few years there I moved to Louisiana with the family then finished out college there. I’m about to be moving up to Nashville to experience something new. I’m looking forward to experience the musical vibe that’s going on over there. And as far becoming an artist, I’ve always been a creative person. I didn’t really start getting into music until high school and after messing around with music production for a while I realized that this was something I wanted to do for a long time.
Taymond Bailey: I was born and raised in New Orleans Louisiana with my mom dad and two brothers. Music found me because I’ve always been a kid with energy and so much emotion. It was a matter of time before i found a way to organize it and music gave me that chance.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Boss Lowder: I’m starting to realize it’s all about who you connect with. Of course you have to be able to present good content but if you’re just posting it to soundcloud and doing nothing else then it’s going to be hard to get your name out there. You have to find people with similar art styles that you can connect with and help each other out. From there it just keeps growing.
Taymond Bailey: I can’t give tips i can give encouragement because I’m grinding with ya.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
Boss Lowder:Haha of course, if you’re an artist that’s never made a mistake when performing then you’re probably playing it too safe. Or you really could just be that good, I don’t know. Actually during my very first performance I trainwrecked and all sound completely stopped playing, but I brought some humor to the situation which eased the tension of a silent room. So in the end it was all good.
Taymond Bailey: I make very little mistakes when it comes to a performance because its when I’m most wired its what i practice for, and i just execute.
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
Boss Lowder: Nah no touriing yet, I’m trying to build up my repertoire of original songs before doing that. Also I want to work on a live show rather than just DJing songs together. Maybe bring in some live instruments or something along those lines.
Taymond Bailey: Im local af. But tours are coming soon.
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
Taymond Bailey: I do plan on working more with This guy in Baton Rouge who has engineered for Lil Boosie Debbie and a number of other headliners, at Base Camp Studios. Thats something in the making
Boss Lowder: I’ve got everything I need to make music at the moment. I’m working with Ableton Live with the Ableton Push 2 which I use when performing. Of course there’s tons of stuff that I still want to get but music equipment is crazy expensive.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
Boss Lowder: Like I mentioned earlier, working with others really helps spreading the word about your music. Like with this EP with Taymond, we have two different audiences we can reach. Rather than just me promoting myself, we’re working together to get the word out.
Taymond Bailey: Same
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
Taymond Bailey: J. Hendrix
Boss Lowder: I had this hilarious idea of performing with James Brown. I wouldn’t be able to keep up with him but he is an inspiration. I don’t know if many people realize how influential he was on the world of music. I mean people know he was a huge name in funk but his style expanded into so many other genres, including electronic music.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
Boss Lowder: My debut solo EP will be coming out really soon. I’m calling it the Something Else EP and there’s multiple meanings behind that name. It’s been on hold for so long because I really want to make it as close as I can to exactly how I want it. It’s impossible to always make music exactly how you want it but I’ve put so many hours into this project and I’m really excited for it to finally be released soon. So keep an eye out for that.
Taymond Bailey: Im creating a tape titled the Misadventures of Crispo Dinero to document the ups and downs in life.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
Taymond Bailey: Medical Sales, i’m finishing my BIology degree and i like sales.
Boss Lowder: My main job is as a graphic designer so I’d probably be putting more focus into that if I wasn’t doing this. I really want to create more physical art like paintings but it takes a lot of time and effort for me to make something I’m proud of. For the time being I’m putting my focus towards music but I’ll be getting more into physical art in the future.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in the next year or so?
Boss Lowder: Really just a lot more music. In my head I have concepts for an album but it will be a while before I get started on that. There’s a lot I still want to improve on and learn about before diving into a full-length album.
Taymond Bailey: Growth in massive proportions
Exposed Vocals: Any Shout-outs?
Boss Lowder: Yes we got our man Kolby Bailey who created the music video for the song “Indigo” off the EP. He did absolutely everything in the creation process for it and I gotta hand it to him because he really took his interpretation of the song and made something great out of it. He’s got an eye for directing and editing, the video really compliments the vibe of the track.
