Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist
I was born in Portugal in a city called Coimbra which is a city full of culture, art and traditions and that alone was a big influence to become an artist. My passion for music started really early. In my teens I started to play in cover bands as a lead singer playing gigs in bars and festivals, but I always felt the urge to create my own stuff, and so I did it….
When I moved to Canada I spent my time writing and composing some tunes and here I am today doing what I love to do.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Yes!! Its very important to put your self out there, try to get a promoter, make sure that you have good material and promote as much as you can online through facebook , instagram, twitter etc… Make sure to get as much exposure as possible.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
We are all human and mistakes happen naturally, but with lots of practice mistakes are minimal.
However, yes I make mistakes. The trick is to act naturally when they happen and not panic… usually this works well!
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
Right now we’re finalizing the new EP, and yes after that I will be touring again. Being on tour is an amazing experience (tiring but definitely worth it). You meet a lot of different people and have a lot of funny experiences, we could be here all night talking about that…lol
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
As I mentioned, we’re finalizing the new EP and there’s a few new projects on the go with two amazing producers Ben Pelchat and Josh Macintosh. I think we’re going to come out with something really hot!!!
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
I find that the internet has a big role in the way that I promote my work, but requires a lot of time and research.
Social media and the influence of followers who are sharing your work is also very important.
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
Without a doubt it would be David Bowie! He completely changed the way that I looked at music and brought a different approach to the music industry.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
I want to make an album with collaborations. I want to bring a few different artists on board with everal ideas to create something unique. That is my goal after we finalize the current project.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
I would be a coffee and a beer taster, I don’t know if that exists [laughing] but will be a great job.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in the next year or so?
Next year I’m going to promote the EP through concerts in Canada and possibly in the US and Europe. Please stay tuned!
Exposed Vocals: Any Shout-out
A big shout out to all the fans who have been with me since the beginning. They keep giving me strength to continue on!!
