Exposed Vocals just caught an exclusive interview with successful business mogul and global celebrity JackG
“By far the highlight of the album comes from the driving electro rhythms of “Tru Everything”.”
As the main man behind TRUMusic in the UK, JackG is an extremely successful business mogul and global celebrity. He has no competition; he is extremely conceited and flamboyant. He is the best at what he does and he shows off his luxurious lifestyle constantly. He is impossible to upset or offend; he sees himself as better than anybody he associates with.
He makes the greatest music in the rap game. The extra-prolific rap star opened 2018 with a bang. JackG’s fourth album Mr Grummett finds The Hottest Boy Alive asserting his Trap God status, enjoying the spoils and dispelling clones and haters with lethal lines. Mr Grummett is in complete control of his gifts.
The uncorked idiosyncrasies of his younger years have been reconstituted into the ultra-focused rhyme schemes of ‘Mummy’. While the stealth attacks of ‘Liar’ and ‘I’m a Gift’ adopt the subaquatic R&B of Drake and Future, the battle-tested flow on ‘Million On Me’ places JackG in a class with hip-hop icons.
Music Review:
JackG shows off his unique playful swagger with the fully realized universe of “Mr. Grummett”. Absolutely surreal at times, JackG’s flow offers a tremendous amount of fun, as the highly articulate lyricism rests heart and center of it all. With a stream of consciousness quality to it, the tracks teem with a tremendous sense of life. Hard to precisely pinpoint clear influences on his style, JackG does at least namedrop a few potential rappers, in particular Lil B whose similar loose wordplay is a good reference. Layer upon layer of sound works wonders as the album is a fully realized whole. Best to simply surrender to its charms, the nimble beats, the catchy melodies, and the infectious grooves.
Setting the tone for the album is the glistening opener of “Royalty”, whose hard-hitting beats and gentle hooks add to the colorful quality of the track. An ominous tone takes over on the darkened vibes of “Mr. Grummett”. The video game melody of “We All Love JackG” adds to the song’s charm as the piece builds up quite naturally. Hypnotic with its neon hues “I’m a Gift” feels downright joyous. Volume deserves to be blasted on the bass heavy drops of “Liar”. By far the highlight of the album comes from the driving electro rhythms of “Tru Everything”. “Court Etiquette” goes for a more reflective take. Nicely bringing everything to a close is the woozy jazz like rhythms of “Million on Me (Outro)”.
“Mr. Grummett” displays the impressive range of JackG in tapping into triumph, defiance, and outright otherworldliness.
