Danii is what we call a visionary his influences can stem from simply anything, from face to face contact from watching others, from his environment like Brampton has had a bit of a influence because of the people he’s meet in Brampton other creatives which helped him to push his music to another level.
However in recent talkings Danii doesn’t have any role models but what he does have is people that inspire him to continue to make great music to name a few, “drake,Joyner Lucas, Jacobi IV, Jay Nahge, Kaz, Derin Falana, J.Cole, Kendrick Lamar, 50cent, 6lack, just to name a few.
But the one thing that draws people towards him is his love for the making the music, the love for the process, the passion and most of all the creative process, but to sum it all up what he loves the most about making music is getting to perform in front his fans and his supporters and family that makes the making process of it all worthwhile
EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
I was born and raised in the islands of Trinidad & tobago, lived with both my parents and my siblings the Caribbean life style is different to everywhere else in the world, however growing up I was never into being an artist because I was a athlete I played soccer that was my passion to go pro, however my father was a singer so I guess I always had that natural musician in my blood, but when I moved to Canada in 2012, I attended a high school called mayfield secondary in which I met a lot of dope artist like Raahiem, Josh Dillion, Ray Hammond, and being around these guys all the time I started to realized that I love music a lot, so eventually I met my producer Caleb McLean me him have been riding together since then and he’s still my producer till this day, the first song we recorded was a freestyle and after that we said let’s go the whole way an do a mixtape and since after that mixtape we’ve just been getting better and better as a unit.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
My advice or tips would be to perfect your craft and your sound before you put your content out there because the music industry has changed and it has a way of changing you, but always remember your purpose and why you do what you do and put your best foot forward always.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
Every artist makes mistakes during a performance no matter how much you practice or rehearse that mistake is going to happen either from a dry throat or you forget a few lines, but the way I handle that mistake is that I make sure the crowd is involved so if I do make a mistake it goes unnoticed, I’m a very hype performer so I’d be dancing or doing something crazy.
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
I haven’t started touring as of right now, but I do plan on touring soon.
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
Well I am currently working with wonlifestudio one of the top recording studios in my province so I don’t think there will be any upgrades because we are the upgrade.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
Social media is the biggest and easiest way to promote your music, its all about learning the algorithm and making it work in your favour, but for me I have my fan base promote it and my family promote it as well as myself promoting so that way it Reaches different people and help me to gain new listeners.
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
This is a no-brainer ha, it would definitely be Drake at OVOFest, the energy that happens in OVOFest is just so crazy like just being in the crowd watching you can feel that energy and the connection with the fans and the artist and drake is just that one artist that would make a moment like that unforgettable and with it being in Toronto it would just be crazy like if that was to actually happen I’d lose my mind.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
What’s next is releasing my project “M.O.M.L.O.T” which stands for More Of Me Less Of Them, which will be dropping this summer, I believe it’s going to be my best work to date for the fact that me and my producer have taken our time with the production of beats and lyrics to make sure people see more in depth of my creativity, also I will be having some visuals To go along with this project for insight on my video creativity as well.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
If I weren’t making music I’d be working and going to school to practice law or to be a neurologist because I enjoy both those things so I would want to give it a try to see how I would do in that field of work.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in the next year or so?
The fans should look forward to more consistent releases, more Visuals, more shows, hopefully, a mini-tour, and just watching me progress and grow as an artist and they grow with me. But the music only gets better from this point on.
