Ten Tonz better known as Big Lotto aka Heavy Steve was born in Newark, NJ raised by way of Suffolk, VA on a dedicated path ready for anything this world throw at him. He has been doing music since the age of thirteen, started off just written to himself, then teamed up with some local kids in VA, they became “BuckCity456” Managed by his father after a year of them polishing there craft they begain doing show out state mostley in New Jersey and New York. Fast foward to high school still making music with the group some it started to fade away it was solo time, going off to college made Tonz a strounger more of a ceo artists. - Exposed Vocals: How did you hear about Exposed Vocals? What made you decide to sign up?
Ten Tonz: Well y’all just did a interview with my label mate “J Davon Harris” I check his out was like great work I followed you all on Social Media then it went from there.
- Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
Ten Tonz: Well birthed out of Newark,New Jersey spent most of my younger years there raised around real life adaptive to really any problems that’s is thrown my way.Then my family moved south to Va the 7 cities first was Hampton then Suffolk aka Suffland or ShellCity. As far as music always road around with my pops bumping Oldies and HipHop at a young age, around 11 I wrote my first rap and had a pome published in a book called my “Red Car”. It just went from there.
- Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
Ten Tonz: I was with a group called BuckCity456 and never was a solo artists till later on down the road, but it was different of course I was a little heavy back then, my dude Blaze was like your flow heavy like a Ton, I was like how many Tons.. He said 10 Tons. So I ran with it Just throw the Z on it for the urban feel.
- Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
TenTonz: I love a hard copy cd and promo you can fully hold, but with the times now if you not on the net, you will hurt your career, just released a Christmas project on a few sharing sites Tidal,GooglePlay,AmazonMp3 just to name a few. I do give music for free on my Audio Mack.

- Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Ten Tonz: Make sure people in your circle not only believe in your grind and craft, but believe in there self more. #TheGrindNeverStops
- Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
TenTonz: When its a new crowd they most likely don’t know you track, but the goal is to grab them so they will know that’s a good thing about a live show you can flow real hip hop make any stage yours when it’s your set, the art of hip hop is dope and I’m a dope Mcee.
- Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
TenTonz: Never really been on tour but I reminder when I was with Buck City we did a show when 50 cent first came out and I wanted him to see us Rock the stage and he was late to the show, about four weeks later we hit another show in Jersey and he was there and was like y’all little dudes killed that we was young so it meant a lot.
- Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
Ten Tonz: It really just comes lately I don’t need the beat to burn the page down just what I feel them I get with one of my house producers. Nice cup of yak or water I get the job done.

TenTonz: I’m bumping Freeway right now is this interview goes down but I’m a music man any giving day Norah Jones to Biggie, U2 to my self. An whatever my label got running.
- Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
TenTonz: I would make sure my music hit the next level and my team as well. Get my mom and sisters set,and gotta get my church home right.
- Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
Ten Tonz: My label has a nice studio called the “Inner Space” we are working on a new face left for 2016 all around.
- Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
Ten Tonz: I use Internet as well as, flyers always looking for new ways to do things an promo.
- Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
Ten Tonz: I would love to rock the stage with LL Cool J, he puts on a show and we need to be over seas.
- Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
Ten Tonz: Right now I have the New Santa EP out rocking with that till right after Christmas then I’m dropping BulletProof Kitchen which will be crazy with me putting my vocals with my chef thing on wax.
- Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
Ten Tonz: I be doing just what I am doing I’m a Chef by trade make the best gumbo you ever had in your life.
- Exposed Vocals: Do you remember buying your first album? Who was it? What was going through your head?
Ten Tonz: Yes, Naughty By Nature I’m from Newark aka Brick City so I use try to rap like them in the house.
- Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
Ten Tonz: My grandmother told me a long time ago you make time for things you want in life.
