Exposed Vocals: How did you hear about Exposed Vocals? What made you decide to sign up?
“We got a Twitter message inviting us to partake.”
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
“I personally grew up in the lower East side of Manhattan, I came from a musical family and it was always a natural thing “
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
“SILKAT6, was a name that was inspired by my love of top hats. Originally it was the “Silk Hat Orchestra” but I got tired of saying it. So I said in a slur of words Silkat6 (pronounced ,Silk Cat 6) and we stuck with it.”
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
“It’s a good tool to use to promote your stuff. But you can’t give too much away or you’ll starve more then you already do”
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
“ Collage stations are a good source to get your stuff on the air. Also it never hurts to become friends with On Air personalities. If you do, then when it comes to gig’s and air play they are more likely to look in your direction and recommend you for the spot”
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
“ I think every performer makes mistakes but if you are a seasoned professional, you know how to capitalize on it and turn it around without anyone the wiser.”
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
“ We do tour, and it is fun but it is a lot of work. We meet some cool people and then we meet some weird people. On one of our tours, while on stage a few female fans suck into our dressing room and stole our underwear. Later after the show un known to us, these Fans invited us to a party and when we got there they had our underwear tacked up to a wall and asked us to sign them”
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
“We have three strong song writers n our group. We all have a different process that we go by. Like “Shoes get thematic inspirations and we then take that and write a story about it and whittle it down into lyrics, H25 like to write Novels that are filled with tons of info and we then take that and boil it down into lyrics without losing his meaning. I write from a more spiritual place, It comes through me and I share that with my wife and together we manifest it into something tangible That captures the intent” we all take different roads when we write.”

Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?
“ Not sure about this one, We are kind of proud of what we put out there that we write but I think there is a version of FASTBALL’S The Way that we did one night while having some fun”
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
“ I think we would rent a house in Puerto Rico on the Caribbean sea side of the Island and right and record”
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
“ the new album “Dream Dancing” was released on November 14, 2014 and since then we have been writing new material and getting ready for our “ 2015 Pajamas Party Tour”
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
“Advertising on the web, radio PSA’s, Benefit shows are a great way to get it out there and give back. Doing opening spots for other touring acts, things like that.”
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
“ I would take the stage any day, anywhere in the world with Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr. Because of their Iconic place in the music of the world”
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
“New album in the works, Doing a worldwide Live concert Stream June 26, 2015 at 9:00p.m. est for Orchard Park Music House to raise awareness of the atrocity of Domestic Violence. OPMuichouse.Org is the site.”
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
“Eating pizza, drinking wine and cavorting with aliens on the outskirts of the universe”
Exposed Vocals: Do you remember buying your first album? Who was it? What was going through your head?
“ The Police “Outlandos d’Amour”, I think. I thought it was fresh an not mainstream cliché’”
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
“ It’s all one in the same”
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2015?
“The Pajamas Party Tour 2015. I know it is going to be a cool tour filled with pillows and all kinds of Pajamas and maybe none at all. Woo hooo. And a lot of fun making music for our fan’s around the world.”
