Young new artist, from Philadelphia. 19 years young, just started rapping to reach people who live or lived in similar situations as me. Started from the bottom trying to make out through music & get my family out of poverty.
Exposed Vocals: How did you hear about Exposed Vocals? What made you decide to sign up?
Miz the kid: Well I heard about Exposed Vocals through Twitter and then my brother told me it would be good exposure.
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
Miz the kid: I was born in west Philadelphia & raised all around different parts of Philly. Me, my mom, & my four siblings moved around a lot. Growing up my older brother was a rapper & I saw how much it help express what he was thinking. That’s what made me want to become a artist to get what I had to off my chest & hopefully get my family out the hood.
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
Miz the kid: Well my older brother they all call him Viz based off his stage name Jvizzie. One day all his friends started calling me Miz, so I realized I was the kid of the group & came up with Miz the Kid.
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
Miz the kid: I think online music sharing is great, just not as popular as it could be. Yes as of now I do give my music for free.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Miz the kid: Just keep trying. Head up & not always listen to what others have to say your sound might be what’s next.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
Miz the kid: Everyone makes mistakes you have to keep going & have short term memory.
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
Miz the kid: I have not toured yet. But hopefully soon.
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
Miz the kid: Usually from experiences in my life or people around me. I always like to make music people can jus vibe to, so usually that’s how I start my writing process, being somewhere comfortable.
Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?
Miz the kid: No I do not & I use just Soundcloud at the moment. But share it on social media sites like Twitter, Facebook,& Instagram
Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?
Miz the kid: Might have some early work from Taylor Swift. Lol
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
Miz the kid: Nice place for my family but then invest the rest in my music to produce better music & more income for my family.
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
Miz the kid: Not that I know of, but right now I work out of two studios. One in East Oak lane & another in North Philly.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
Miz the kid: So far I just promote the basic way through the main stream social medias.
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
Miz the kid: I would probably preform with Future & Migos or Biggie & Pac. And I would want to do it at Madison square of course. There definitely some of the most influential artist to me other then J Cole & Jvizzie.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
Miz the kid: Yes me & MBS are coming out with a couple Ep’s before my first mixtape comes releases.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
Miz the kid: Playing Basketball somewhere definitely one of my biggest passions.
Exposed Vocals: Do you remember buying your first album? Who was it? What was going through your head?
Miz the kid: I actually brought my first album somewhat recently & it was Kendrick Lamar’s “Good Kid, M.a.a.d City” & this was because I liked every song on the album. You
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
Miz the Kid: Music is life. Right now I currently only focus on music & that’s it.
