Exposed Vocals: How did you hear about Exposed Vocals? What made you decide to sign up?
Matt: I heard about exposed vocals through the internet and I just saw potential in what they were doing so I decided to sign up.
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
Matt: I grew up in bartlesville, Oklahoma. I decided about 8th grade I wanted to pursue creating music, I just had a passion for it and loved singing and creating things more than anything else. Its always fun and never gets old.
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
Matt: I just decided to stick with my actual name. I didnt feel the need to create a persona
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
Matt: I think it can be very beneficial for sure, i give all my music away for free I haven’t created any original songs yet Ive only been working on covers so I see no need to charge people.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Matt: Im honestly just starting out so I dont really have any advice that would be to helpful.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
Matt: Oh yeah always, nobody is perfect. The way Ive dealt with mistakes performing live in the past was to just power through it and hope for a good response from the crowd.
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
Matt: I haven’t gone on tour yet, but i was just recently asked to go on tour so Im looking forward to what the future holds.
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
Matt: Im working on some stuff right now and usually it just comes from my brain and my producers we just chill out and brainstorm.
Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?
Matt: I currently do not but I do use sound cloud!
Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?
Matt: I actually listen to taylor swift a lot and Justin Bieber but I don’t know if i would consider that embarrassing
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
Matt: I would take a vacation to some where beautiful and peaceful so I could continue focusing on writing music
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
Matt: I currently work in my own studio, but me and my manager are thinking about moving into a new studio in the city.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
Matt: I try to use social media mostly, but sometimes people aren’t very receptive so I also utilize soundcloud
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
Matt: I would have to say performing at Coachella with Taylor Swift because she is beautiful and I love her music I think we would sound good together.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
Matt: well Im going to be recording some new singles soon and hopefully completing an EP full of new stuff.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
Matt: I have no clue
Exposed Vocals: Do you remember buying your first album? Who was it? What was going through your head?
Matt: yes I bought the Beatles album back when I was in 5th Grade and I was just thinking everyone loves the Beatles.
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
Matt: I just try to focus on one thing at a time. I don’t have time to be stressing.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?
Matt: New music for sure and hopefully an album.
