Exposed Vocals interviews Matt Gutta
Exposed Vocals: How did you hear about Exposed Vocals? What made you decide to sign up?
Matt Gutta: i heard about it on Twitter, after speaking to Mr. Randy Morano. He asked me if I’d like an interview and i said yes. I thought it was an amazing opportunity, being that I am trying to take my music off the ground.
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
Matt Gutta: I grew up in and around Savannah, Georgia. I lived a really rough childhood. Drugs, alcohol, violence was a normal thing for me. I was bounced in and out of crack houses, and i never met my father. I was a good kid though despite everything. I decided to become an artist when i realized how creative i was. I freestyled on a beat with friends one day, and they were like damn bruh you can spit haha. I’ve always had a natural love for music. It calms me down. Once i realized hey i have talent i decided to lean to music. I love thinking too, so i challenge myself when i write.
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
Matt Gutta: honestly, i came up with my name out the blue. I had tried a couple before, but Matt Gutta just had this fit to it. I represent me, and part of the hood in my life gave me the inspiration for “Gutta” to me it means tough, and hard.
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
Matt Gutta: i think it’s a great way to grab people’s attention. A good way to get exposure and build up a fan base quickly. I would give my music freely for people to hear, yes. I love money of course, but i know financially some people such as myself can’t afford to buy it. So I’d give everyone the chance to hear it.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Matt Gutta: Keep following your dreams. Push your music any way you can whenever you can. Never give up even if you feel you’re about too. Have faith in yourself and believe you will acheive success. Have the public love you. You will receive love back.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
Matt Gutta: I have nevet had an opportunity to perform. I would love to though. However the place I’m at in my life right now, that cannot adequately be met for me.
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
Matt Gutta: I haven’t been on tour either. I’m trying my best right now to get as much exposure as I can.
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
Matt Gutta: I would say the beat depends a lot on what i will say. My life definitely has most of what i rap about in my freestyles. I have a pen and a piece of notebook paper, plug my headphones in, get on the app called The Booth, and i just play the beat and my mind does the rest.
Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?
Matt Gutta: No i do not have a band website. I share my music on Facebook,Twitter,The Booth,YouTube.
Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?
Matt Gutta: Probably my Get Throwed freestyle on the booth and a couple of my freestyles on YouTube
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
Matt Gutta: I’d give some to my family, i’d probably take a nice vacation, and i’d donate to foundations. I’d put some in the bank as well.
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
Matt Gutta: Right now all i have is Skull Candy Studio quality head phones and my cell phone. Hopefully once i get more money i can make investments to get proper equipment.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
Matt Gutta: I search places on the internet and share my music at those places. Right now it seems to be twitter and The Booth.
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
Matt Gutta: Definitely Tupac and Biggie. Two all time favorites. Probably in California where Tupac was from. They are two of the greatest to ever be in the game. I have nothing but mad respect for them.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
Matt Gutta: Today i will probably make freestyles all day and night like i usually do. Until i get equipment i won’t be able to do much more than what I can.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
Matt Gutta: probably working a 9-5 somewhere, not making the kind of money i would want to be making. Working somewhere doing something that wouldn’t be appealing to me.
Exposed Vocals: Do you remember buying your first album? Who was it? What was going through your head?
Matt Gutta: 50 Cent- The Massacre I was thinking i can’t wait to play this shit, I know 50 killed it haha.
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
Matt Gutta- Right now i have all the free time for music, couple things rough going on in my personal life. So I am currently unemployed.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2015?
Matt Gutta: hopefully i will have albums and mixtapes for fans and hopefully my career will reach a point where im signing autographs. Just look to see me blow up. I’ll show love to all my fans.
