Exposed Vocals interviews MARCI
Exposed Vocals: How did you hear about Exposed Vocals? What made you decide to sign up?
MARCI: You guys hit me with the follow on twitter. It seemed like an interesting and beneficial business, so I checked it out.
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
MARCI: Well I was born in Livingston, NJ. Lived in a town called Vauxhall near Newark and Irvington for about 8 years. I don’t know what the hell my interest in rock music came from. Growing up in Jersey; my family really only listened to house, hip hop, soul, and r&b music. I was actually a huge fan of Kid Cudi. The first time I heard him rap over Vampire Weekend’s “Ottoman” I pretty much caught on to vampire weekend. Then somehow, someway. I ran into Bon Jovi’s “You Give Love A Bad Name” and then I found GnR. After I listened to “Appetite For Destruction” I demanded a guitar for Christmas. I got it, taught myself how to play, and here I am a 17 year old starting his solo career.
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
MARCI: I didn’t come up with the name. A group of girls I met one day; no idea what their names are now. Hell I barely remember what they look like but, they just said that name. Don’t really remember the situation but that’s where I got it.
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
MARCI: All of my music is free. I really need all the fan support I can get, the money comes later with that.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
MARCI: Collaborate and communicate. Other artist trying to do the same thing as you will support you.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
MARCI: Hahaha. So many mistakes but, I let the crowd let me know how they feel about that. I don’t really do anything about it until afterwards; just try to prevent it from happening next time.
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
MARCI: Touring didn’t really work out with my old band so I wan to do it myself. That’s why I’ve started my solo career.
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
MARCI: Songwriting isn’t really a set process for me. It’s pretty random. I’ll just randomly think of something throughout the day and put my fingers to work. A chair could squeak and inspire me. Sounds stupid but, that actually inspired my song “SIMPLE LOVE”.
Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?
MARCI: If you want to find my music you should go on Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/marciallcapital
Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?
MARCI: I don’t really find it embarrassing but there’s this weird band named The Flatworms. Their music is so out of whack that I find it cool.
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
MARCI: I’d probably get my own place so I could do what the hell I want.
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
MARCI: Since I started doing everything myself, including production. I got some good practice with my ep “ SKRATCH”. I’m going to fix all the mistakes I made on that and figure it out on my next project.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
MARCI: Engagement with other artist really does the work.
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
MARCI: Sebastian Bach and Jack White at Wembley Stadium in London. Any day, Any time.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
MARCI: I have an album coming in 2016. That ep was just foreplay. I’m really about to come out with this album as my true art and its going to crap on any other project I’ve ever done.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
MARCI: Probably spend more time worrying about getting into culinary school. I like to cook and I’m good at it. Like everything I do.
Exposed Vocals: Do you remember buying your first album? Who was it? What was going through your head?
MARCI: Appetite For Destruction was the first and only album that I’ve ever bought. By far the best album I’ve ever heard.
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
MARCI: I pretty much work on music all the time. The responsibility I have I to make it.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?
MARCI: My album “NO CONCEPT”. An unleashed MARCI ALL CAPITAL. The reveal of a new BlvckRockStar.
