Exposed Vocals interviews I.M.F.W
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
I.M.F.W: well, Ive always been into music, you know always having ear buds in or drumming with my hands it’s just who I was. But I never really put my music out there until about a year ago I started a SoundCloud and really getting into it. it’s been a slow start but it’s still something I’m working on.
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
I.M.F.W: I was in the middle of making all my social medias for my music and I was thinking that I didn’t wanna use my real name or anything even though it’s not too boring. So as I was sitting there thinking and it hit me “why not use my initials?” So I put it together and it didn’t look too bad, I kept it.
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
I.M.F.W: On my SoundCloud, you can download all my music for free. Online sharing is a great way to get music out you can hit so many groups of people at once, but it’s also hard because so many people are just looking for a follow back or something like that my main focus is someone listening to my music and following me because of that. As for now, I have many people download my songs on SoundCloud. It’s working for me, I’m not in it to get money.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
I.M.F.W: the best thing to do is stay focused. If you’re really in it for the love of music it doesn’t matter if you’re playing for 12 or 1200 people. You’re putting your art out there and that’s what counts. Keep working hard and don’t doubt yourself. Put love into your work also, it needs emotion and real-ness.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
I.M.F.W: lately I’ve just been working, and haven’t performed in a good few years. But once my parents did make me do karaoke night and I messed up on a word, I danced it out.
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
I.M.W.F: I haven’t toured yet, but who knows that the future will hold!
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
I.M.W.F: songwriting is all about putting emotion into words. Usually after a heart break is a great time to just get a bunch of stuff down and go at it.
Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?
I.M.F.W: currently I use SoundCloud and twitter daily. I have an Instagram and YouTube and I maybe will start using them a lot more in the future but right now twitter is a great way to connect and message a lot of people in the industry.
Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?
I.M.F.W: honestly, a lot of my very first songs are on my phone. That would probably be the worst if someone played those.
