Exposed Vocals Interviews “Kidd”
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
Kidd: I came from South Denver, Co.In the Westwood neighborhood. In front of some rundown projects. I started listening to hip hop songs on the radio. Singing along to them, then eventually freestyling my own version as a young kid. As I grew up started to use my music as an escape from a lot of things I went through as a kid.
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
Kidd: I was always the Young one, always seen as the little brother of the group. They say I sounded young in my music, so they’d call me Kidd.. and it stuck..
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
Kidd: I think online music sharing is important to any artist, because a friend once told me, “any exposure is good exposure”. So I give my music for free, because it builds exposure, it makes it easier for the fans to take with them.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Kidd: I am on a start up label. So any advice I have would to be Stay persistent, never give, and be ready for the game to hit you out of nowhere. Only reason I know is from past experience, putting thousands into something that didn’t turn out in my favor.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
Kidd: Haha, yes I have. I have made a lot of mistakes. one thing to do is DON’T STOP! if you have to make it se
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
Kidd: I haven’t been on tour.. YET.. but I’ve been all around Colorado. One really cool story is that, while in Colorado Springs, we rented a hotel with a no smoke policy. Ended up smoking anyway, there was this cleaning lady that came right after we left. & I know she could just tell we smoked the room out. When she came to confront us we pulled out of the lot. That day my manager had to pay extra because of the weed smoke.
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
Kidd: First step is thinking about what I never had. I think about what can be. I listen to the instrumental to gain a vibe that I feels it gives. I let it speak to me after that. It like it comes from nowhere.
Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?
Kidd: Our label has established itself on the Bandcamp website. That’s the main platform we use. Spotify has became really useful as well. I try to keep my music exclusive. This way I build a solid fan base.
Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?
Kidd: HAHA!! I dont know man.. I don’t find any songs embarrassing, I don’t think many people would expect me to listen to Aaliyah, or some Alicia Keys.
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
Kidd: I mean.. I wouldn’t really be off. I’d spend at least 2 to 3 grand on weed. I’d invest the rest into music, so I wouldn’t really be on vacation.
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
Kidd: I frequently use LiveLike Kings Studios, that’s my go to spot. I have a dude JScene that I work well with. But there is alays room for upgrade.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
Kidd: Facebook makes promoting very easy, along with other social sites of course. So our grassroots campaign is building day by day through our social media channels.
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
Kidd: So many to choose, but if I had to pick I’d say.. Wiz Khalifa of course, and just to add some of my past, i’d bring back Biggie.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
Kidd: My first EP, Realism, released, so know im Working the second. Featuring Don Cartier, Loc Pone, & Milly Bars a couple artist from Chief Roc. I Have music videos in the works, along with shows in the process. So just stay tuned for Realism 2!!

Kidd: Growing marijuana! I live in a state where the economy is booming! So if i wouldn’t rap I will own my own grow op.
Exposed Vocals: Do you remember buying your first album? Who was it? What was going through your head?
Kidd: The first album I’ve bought was Nas’ Street Diciples. The song Just A Moment had me thinking, Nas is a Lyrical genius and that song spoke to me at that time in my life.
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
Kidd: Its difficult. I am thankful for the friends, family, and fans that keep me in it. So i just try to set a schedule for myself.
