Recording artist and television personality Keldamuzik is what the entertainment industry has been waiting for. She is bringing the world exciting content that will entertain you, as well as introducing a dynamic sound to her audience through her music. Kelda is a ball full of talent, who will not be denied.
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become Keldamuzik?
Keldamuzik: I grew up in San Jose CA. I started out in this industry as a kid, always taking modeling/acting classes and always on the set of a photo shoot. As I got older I was trying to find my niche, do I want to be a model? Actress? Lawyer? Singer? Doctor? Lol it was a hard decision but I finally came to the conclusion that I want to be in the entertainment industry, in front of the camera and behind the scenes.
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
Keldamuzik: Well my first original name is Kelda and since music is my passion, I decided to add that on to it and wanted to be creative with it. I think it’s unique and the name Kelda is unique by itself, I’m always receiving compliments on it.
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
Keldamuzik: I think online music sharing is the best thing for artists at this point, Especially if you’ve been in this industry for a while, you’d want people to dig up your old stuff and share it with others. I definitely allow my music to be shared and notice that fans are more appreciative when they don’t always have to pay to support their favorite artists.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Keldamuzik: Sure, learn the industry and try to do as much as you can by yourself. The more you create possibilities on your own, the more it will attract others that will want to come in and help polish your brand. You must wear many hats at first in this industry to understand what is needed for you to accomplish your goals. When you know what you want and what you’re talking about, you’ll get more respect and better deals in the long run.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
Keldamuzik: Yes I do! LoL, everything is at the spare of the moment so it’s hard to say how I handle that, it just really depends on what kind of mistake I made. If it has something to do with forgetting the lyrics or the music isn’t playing properly by the DJ, then I try to play it off or have the crowd sing with me. You gotta do what you gotta do.
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
Keldamuzik: Yes, I’ve toured in Tokyo, Japan with R&B singer Lloyd a few years ago and I frequently tour in the Caribbean. I love touring and it’s the best way to engage with fans. The only thing that happened on tour that was weird for me was in the Caribbean when I woke up next to a bird chirping loud in my ear then he decided to drop a present on my pillow…GROSS!!!. Also a crab found its way into my hotel as well, just casually crawling in and making itself at home lol.
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
Keldamuzik: I gather songwriting inspiration from people’s experiences including my own. The thing is lyrically my music isn’t that deep, I can write about a fly on the wall but as long as the lyrics sound sick and the beat is nice, then everything is all good. I’m just speaking from my perspective and how I make music, I don’t know how others do it.
Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?
Keldamuzik: Yes I have www.Keldamuzik.net. I use all the social media tools, Facebook, twitter, youtube, reverbnation, Google Plus.
Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?
Keldamuzik: haha that’s a great question because my playlist if ridiculous! You will find everything from Seal to Amy Grant, DMX, Eminem, LeAnn Rhymes, Rihanna, Nine Inch Nails, Smashing Pumpkins, Michael Jackson, Cher, Jah Cure, DJ Quik, Mariah Carey, Papa Roach, Kenny G, Sarah McLaughlin, Backstreet Boys, Jennifer Lopez, Madonna, Crooked I, T.I, Celine Dion, Savage Garden and so much more. J
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
Keldamuzik: I would start to launch all of my projects from my community activities, to even film and TV projects that I’m currently working on. The money will all come back in the future in a bigger amount. As far as taking a year off, that’s pretty hard for me to do because I’m a workaholic.
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
Keldamuzik: Yes I’m actually shopping around for another studio to start laying down more tracks. Right now I’m working with a studio out of Oakland but they plan to close down and take a different direction in the biz.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
Keldamuzik: Social Media, Email Marketing, word of mouth, social events. They all work best for me, but then again I have a method to my madness when it comes to marketing that not everyone has. I build platforms around my music to give it its own outlet.
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
Keldamuzik: I would want to perform in Japan again and it would be with Michael Jackson. He’s such a talented artist and has a genuine fan base that loved him. I watched a documentary of him when he was in Japan and the fans were going absolutely nuts over him. It was true love. He is the greatest artist to have ever existed and I’m lucky enough to be a fan and watch him entertain us all throughout these years.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
Keldamuzik: Yes, well outside of music I’m releasing my first short film called “Love The Original Way”, I’m also working on a web series called “Whose Ride Is It Anyway” and last but not least I have an entertainment variety talk show that airs globally on several different stations, Diva Talk Tonite. Musically, I’m currently promoting my latest music video “Queen for a Night” which recently landed a licensing deal with a French airline called Air Austral.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
Keldamuzik: I would most likely run some sort of business. For some reason, I like writing up proposals, putting together paperwork and arranging stuff to happen. I would probably work for a tech company that’s launching the latest social media tool or mobile app. I like to work in industries that make a difference in people’s lives.
Exposed Vocals: Do you remember buying your first album? Who was it? What was going through your head?
Keldamuzik: Yep, my first album was Savage Garden’s first release. I was really into pop/alternative music back then and for some reason I couldn’t stop listening to them, they were talented guys. LoL people probably wouldn’t expect me to say them, but their album was very Michael Jackson influenced too.
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
Keldamuzik: I use the calendar on my phone, that’s the best way to keep track of my personal life and business and pleasure as well.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?
Keldamuzik: More music by me as well as short films and brand new episodes of my talk show Diva Talk Tonite!
