Exposed Vocals Interviews ‘Flick The Original”
:Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
FtO: Well, I was born in Vila Franca de Xira, Lisbon, Portugal, I´m a portuguese amateur rapper, I grew up in Sobralinho, a village near Vila Franca de Xira but right now I moved to another village with the name of Cadaval.
Before i started making songs I would usually just write songs, and everyone told me that i had talent and that i should rap and make songs for YouTube because i would have a future in this industry, a week ago I decided to make my first song and post it on YouTube.
The song had some nice feedback so I decided to become an artist but right now I´m just an amateur rapper but i have the dream to become a professional one!
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
FtO: Well one day when i was writing I said to myself: “Well Iuri if you want to become a rapper you should come up with a name, but not some name it had to be an original one!” So I came up with this thing in my head that my name had to have “the Original” in the name so i just picked a random name that i heard on the tv and that was Flick so it turned out to be Flick the Original but i usually just use the name as FtO!
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
FtO: Well online music sharing is great to grow up in the music community, i for example share a lot my music so new people can listen to my content and support me aswell, so it´s a great idea if we´re still not that known around our city or our village! I do give away my music for free cause it´s nothing professional at the moment but once my mixtape comes out i´ll be selling it!
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
FtO: Well the only tip that i have is to never give up of your dreams, cause im not giving up on mine either, and like if you post a video on YouTube and you don´t get that many views don´t worry the views will come up naturally and  it´s better to grow up slowly than to grow up with help, believe me!
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
FtO: Well usually i just write at night like from 3am to 7am cause i can´t sleep so i write at that hours cause i have more inspiration at night i don´t know why to be honest ahah! My songwriting process is like i start to hear to some chilled music like mozart or beethoven cause it cools me down and it makes my ideas flow!
Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?
FtO: I don´t have a band website the only thing I have is YouTube and SoundCloud I use those platforms!
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
FtO: Well I would finish my home studio that I´m building right now but then I would save some money, and with a year off i would only concentrate in rapping!
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
FtO: Well i usually just promote my music on YouTube, Twitter and SoundCloud but my friends help me a lot sharing my musics!
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
FtO: Yes, right now im just finishing my new song called “Myself” the song is about my personality basically! I´m working on my mixtape too right now!
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
FtO: To be honest I have no idea cause before i started rapping i would think all the times about what i would do after i finished school because I don´t have plans to go the university so i actually had no idea about what I was going to do!
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
FtO: Well my parents are always telling that the school comes first and that i should focus first on school and then music, but i can juggle the responsabilities pretty well my grades are not that good but they´re not bad either so they let me to keep doing music!
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?
FtO: They should expect a lot of music and I´m being honest about this, a lot of music! And i don´t know yet but my mixtape will probably come out in the end of this year!
