Exposed Vocals Interviews Duc3
Born Munashe Ethan Mutandiro, Duc3 is an artist straight outta Zimbabwe in the city of Harare.Raised by both parents in the ghetto of Mufakosi Before moving to Norton, Duc3 has been a subject of poverty and violence. As a troubled kid with No one to tell he then fell in love with Music at the age of 9. Under the wing of his uncle he later mastered the art and became a performing artist with No records. Introduced to the mic he went on to meet up with Fun_f the owner of Nation Music Ent who then became a mentor and a brother. With No album or mixtape but just some singles Duc3 has managed to gain popularity through speaking to the people in his Music.
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?Â
Duc3:I grew up in an area called Mufakosi. The things are was subjected to during my early childhood got me in a state were I knew I couldn’t tell anyone but still wanted to let it out,at that time my uncle was an artist thus when I knew I wanted to be like this.
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
Duc3:Duc3 basically means leader,as I am a leader of my life and I’m telling my story, I had to make it fit. I once had a little brother who passed away at just 3 months hence the 3 on my name.
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
Artist:Online Music sharing is not bad, this gets your voice to places and people will hear you tell your story. Imagine If Music couldn’t be shared online it means you’ll only be of impact to those around you.At the moment I’m sharing my Music for free cause I’m still yet to build a name for myself Before I start selling cause If No one knows me then who will buy me.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Duc3:The hardest part about art is saying What’s in your heart other than What’s in your mind so I advise the upcoming artists to speak What’s in their hearts and connect with the listeners thus more attention is given out to them.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
Duc3:I haven’t made a mistake as of yet but If I’m to make a mistake I’ll just say a statement just to build the hype maybe like “How’s everybody doing !!”..this will obviously get their minds off the mistake.
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?Â
Duc3:Haven’t started touring yet but soon.
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process? Â
Duc3:The basics I face or rather I say the basics we face as a people usually the hardships and how the world is. Depending on the particular theme of the track I like to take myself closer to what the theme links with,If it’s social,I take myself where a mass of people interact.
Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?
Duc3:No band website yet but it’s still under development. For sharing my Music I use Audiomack, Soundcloud and Reverbnation.
Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?
Duc3:As a rapper the most embarrassing songs you’ll find on my player is funk and soul, I’m a fan of Seal.
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it? Â
Duc3:I’ll surely donate 20% of that to the charity and the rest I’ll use it to explore other countries on a pursuit to better my art as an artist but at the same time I’ll take my whole team with me cause the team is all into Music.
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now? Â
Duc3:I don’t got hopes to upgrade to anywhere I feel as If the people I work with now is my family and I can’t leave family. At the moment I work with Nation Music Ent which is run by Fun_f who is also the producer.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
Duc3:Social media has been number 1 key for me cause seems these days people are more concerned by your relativity on social media.
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?Â
Duc3:Madison Square is the place to perform. I would surely like to perform with Jay Z,Nas,Fun_f, Common,Alisha Keys,J.Nova, J.Cole, Pharrel Williams and Kanye. These artists know what art is and these are also my top artists and I know it’s easy for me and them to compliment each other.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
Duc3:As for projects yeah I’m working on something which is to be revealed sometime later as of now we just keep it on a low.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing? Â
Duc3:Trust me I wouldn’t know, cause If we take it in that direction I would totally be another me though I used to wanna be a lawyer.
Exposed Vocals: Do you remember buying your first album? Who was it? What was going through your head? Â
Duc3:Yeah,the very first album I bought was by Seal. The soul was going through my mind, I remember being at the shop door and was like I need me some soul cause I was going through a tough time.
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life? Â
Duc3:I always like to learn from anyone who at the moment is doing better than me so as to know what the next person is doing that I’m not and but then I perfect for the next project.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016? Â
Duc3:IF I SHOULD DIE BEFORE I WAKE by yours truly Duc3 produced by Fun_f, this is surely gonna make some noise out here.
