Exposed Vocals: How did you hear about Exposed Vocals? What made you decide to sign up?
Blount: I heard about exposed vocals through twitter for my first time
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
Blount: I was born and raised Jackson Mississippi until I was 10 then my mother and pops divorced so my mother moved us to Anderson Indiana with her older sister and her husband and 4 boys, I was a poor kid growing up I didn’t have much just a lot of love from my mother which made life kinda easier, seeing my mother no high school diploma struggling too raise 3 kids on welfare birthdays was just another day cake ice cream little BBQ and happy birthday which I was greatful, but to make a long story short I seen my life as a kid and said I don’t want these things for self as I get older I want better so I said to myself I’m gone DO THE DAMN THANG to make my life better for my future and coincidentally my first song I made when I was 11 or 12 was called DO THE DAMN THANG with my cousin Daryla Hannah aka Hannah Boi, so I write music about what I see and feel, I also wrote poetry when I was a kid THE STRUGGLE MADE ME START CREATING MUSIC ITS MY LIFE:-)
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
Blount: My Name is my government Name I’m Blount so I said I’m gone Keep it Blount and that’s how I came up with my Brand K.I.B KEEPITBLOUNT
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
Blount: I think online music sharing is a great way today to get your music Exposed to people especially for the Indie artists as myself tryna come up on a working for it on a budget, it’s either work hard and invest all my hard earned money into my music career or sell dope and be locked away and can’t do what I love. And I choose the first one cause I done seen my future by dreaming:-)
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Blount: utilize on your networks stay Networking for gigs there are always Someone throwing a party, see if you can perform for their audience always try to go to open mic shows, and if you have the finances to travel hit there open mic shows up, Atlanta Georgia, California and New York City is the Hottest places to get gigs for. Radio play that’s easy go to Radio Airplay.com also hit up radio stations on twitter send them your music
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
Blount: I haven’t really had the chance to perform as much as I want too, my first performance was Feb 15, 2015 at the Rockhouse cafe in Indianapolis Indiana so I haven’t really had a chance to make a mistake
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
Blount: No touring now but hopefully that will change here soon in the near future
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
Blount: From my life experiences things i done been through mostly lows but some Highs, just what I see and feel and lately other states I done visited like New York City and Houston Texas things i experience from them places like being invited to the Houston Texas Appreciation Weekend Hosted by Drake Dope experience and recording song “TEAMWORK” with the HEATMAKERZ IN NEW YORK CITY at DIAMOND DISTRICT STUDIOS they engineered my song “TEAMWORK”
Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?
Blount: No website as of now but that’s all in works, I share my music on Soundcloud, reverbnation, Twitter, instagram and Facebook
Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?
Blount: None I think
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
Blount: I would invest it into my music career and put my brand where it needs to be, nothing but studio time videos and touring and marketing my brand to the whole world & hitting up radio stations
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
Blount: yes me and my buddy Matt is working on building a studio now I already have most equipment I need. But for now I’m paying for studio time at a local studio in indianapolis indiana
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
Blount: I utilize on my Networks as much as possible, I also look for the best marketing teams out there so far the one’s I have chosen have been okay
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
Blount: it would be all over the world with 2pac and MJ(Michael Jackson) why because they where my influencers in music growing up
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
Blount: Next is my Project called “NO HAND OUTZ” a LP I’m working on Since I gave the fans little music in 2014 this year I want them to get what they deserve REAL good music and a HOT SINGLE “BAD” (THEY KNOW)
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
Blount: I would be doing my Day Job I’m a foreman at Witsken Landscaping I just was blessed by YAH With this Job this year makes pretty good money that I could retire on:)
Exposed Vocals: Do you remember buying your first album? Who was it? What was going through your head?
Blount: I can’t remember the first album I bought I’ve bought so many
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
Blount: I just get it done I work hard every day pay some bills on Friday to stay ahead and put some aside for savings for my music and the rest of my money is for some self rewarding to keep myself lifted:)
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2015?
Blount: the “NO HAND OUTZ” I plan to have finished by October and I plan on releasing it out on my on Indie label BLOUNTVILLE HITSVILLE PRODUCTION getting I’S AND T’S dotted and crossed, just expect good original music from BLOUNT:-)
