Exposed Vocals Interviews Beauty in the Darkness!
Formed in 2012 a Alternative/Metal band out of Las Vegas, Nevada consists of 4 members with a raunchy taste in music bringing out the best in every genre. With the release of their new EP “Lost for Words” stunted the beginning of a small local band from only being released in the time span of a month has already attracted a record label and various offers and new fans. Female fronted and melodically enthrusted the band has no boundaries and are not afraid to hit any high or sour note you could think of. Beauty in the Darkness is as described and are willing to bring out your inner beauty and your inner darkness into music you never thought existed!
Exposed Vocals: How did you hear about Exposed Vocals? What made you
decide to sign up?
BITD: One day we were going through our social media sites just to
update and to check what’s new going on with the world and noticed we got a
message from Exposed Vocals from our twitter account. So typically we said
yes and said we would love to be interviewed! Now maybe we can say one day
that they helped us get heard!
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made
you decide to become an artist?
BITD: We’re all different on how we came to music. Thomas used to play
bass in grade school then heard a song called “In Bloom” from Nirvana and
got exposed to the whole rock genre. David and Zero both came from a game
called guitar hero, Weird huh? But Zero had more of an inspiration from a
van Halen concert seeing him play his six minute solo of “eruption”. Aria
started off interviewing bands to eventually forming her own solo projects
and featuring in bands like “Full Fledged”.
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your
inspiration behind it?
BITD: The name Beauty in the Darkness was thought up from Zero. It was
supposed to describe the melody and back chilling riffs from our music, but
that we also have a heavy side and that we can mix the two. We all have
different backgrounds and have no one typical taste for music. The music is
diverse, different, something you wouldn’t expect to hear thats the true
meaning of Beauty in the Darkness.
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever
give your music away for free? Why?
BITD: We personally think that music should be paid for so that the
musician can keep doing what they love but not let money over consume the
way they make music. But with a band that’s coming out we believe that
giving your music for free is very important to catch attention and a fan
base to grow as a musician. But as a musician grows they rely on their
music to pay for meals and a roof over their head. Music sharing can be a
blessing and a bitch at the same time.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any
smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
BITD: Make connections and don’t be afraid to throw yourself out there.
If you’re a band that is just starting up and is looking for a first show
to play make some friends that have bands of their own, find a house to
play at ,make flyers, and promote the f#&$ out of it! Talk to people in
person, through social media, make fliers and walk around the hotspots of
your school and town to make connections for people to come to your show.
When your band starts getting recognition do research and find your local
promoters and hit them up. Convince them why they need you at their show.
And most importantly RECORD YOUR MUSIC! One good recording can set you off
to the top and get you many offers and shows. People care about the music
and that’s what they want to hear!
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
BITD: Its different than recording in a studio, in a studio you have to
be perfect, but when it comes to live it happens frequently. We make
mistakes all the time none of our shows we play perfectly through, but
that’s the rawness you get from a live show! When we encounter mistakes we
make fun of them or traditionally play through. We’re not that kind of band
to worry about it but we always try our best to give the best performance.
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you
think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
ABITD: We have not had the pleasure of touring yet. We’ve been trying to
get our name out more locally ,get our sh*# together, and build a fan base
around the world. But we can say were excited to do so.
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What
is your usual songwriting process?
BITD: We all go off just what we feel at the time. Music is what it
says and its feeling. If we hear some funky music or some extreme metal we
just go off of it. It also is a little bit of jamming sometimes we just
have fun and we just get really creative and into it and make songs that
we’re like” this is my new favorite song”.
Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you
use to share your music?
Artist: We do have a website! Beautyinthedarkness.net. We also promote on
FaceBook, Twitter, Instagram, Reverbnation, Bandcamp, iTunes, and Spotify.
Our Youtube is a little outdated though
Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might
find on your mp3 player?
BITD: Embarrassing?! Well Thomas listens to NSYNC , Zero has some
J-POP, David has Numa Numa-Ozone, and Aria listens to some weird
instrumental bands. Freaky stuff.
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off,
what would you do? How would you spend it?
BITD: Thomas would spend purely on the band get new equipment etc. Zero
would gladly buy a rolls Royce, dozens of guitars, and work on recordings
and shows, David would spend it all in a heartbeat on god knows what, and
Aria would well were not sure haha.
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with
now?
Artist: Were actually working with Camel Hump Studios and they provide a
pretty good set up. But if we had to choose it would be a new drum kit, new
guitars, basic stuff that might give us that sound that you would want to
hear.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works
best for you?
BITD: Social Media helps a lot. Everybody is online and it’s easy to
click a link so we take full advantage of that. But we also go out to shows
and see what the local scene is up to and make connections with people and
spread the word. When we promote we spread it like a plague!!!
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead
or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
BITD: For Thomas it would be Dave Grohl and Corey Taylor and somewhere
in Seattle, Tokyo, or London. Zero it would be the Gazette and BMTH which
he’s always dreamed of playing with them and would have to be the same

Exposed Vocals: Are there any projects that you’d like to talk about?
BITD: Were currently working on getting an album done and hopefully
side project band also with their free time.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
BITD: In the words of Thomas “I think I would have a dull life. Work,
sleep, eat, and no interesting friends. Honest truth.” I think that goes
for all of us.
Exposed Vocals: Do you remember buying your first album? Who was it? What
was going through your head?
BITD: Thomas:”I think the first album I bought was the greatest hits
for Earth, Wind, and Fire.” Zero: Bullet for my Valentine The Poison. David
and Ariana have yet to remember?
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
BITD: We have to constantly text each other whether it be through text
or Facebook messenger we keep in contact as much as we can. We call
practice when we’re all free, set up photo shoots, and make new music when
we feel inspiration. We always find time even in our busy lives.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2015?
BITD: Getting our music to more of a broader audience making it
available on every platform and in stores worldwide. Making music videos so
people can get more of a jist of our music. Also recording an album so
people can get the full experience of all that were capable of! Keep up
with us were not going anywhere except into your stereos, radios, and
televisions!
