Exposed Vocals Interviews Antimony 51
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
Antimony 51: I grew up in a small coastal town called Binningup with a good bunch of mates. One of my closest friends played guitar, and watching him play made me keen to give it a go and learn to play myself. Since then all I’ve wanted was to play instruments and make music.
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
Antimony 51: Antimony is a type of mineral that has an alchemy symbol meaning of independence. 51 is it’s periodic table number. With its meaning of independence I knew it would suit me as a one man band.
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
Antimony 51:I think it’s a great way for people to access music. I have given my music away for free on Bandcamp as I want other people, rich or poor to be able listen to my music.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Antimony 51: Never give up! No matter how much you think you can’t do it, you can, it just takes time and effort. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there and see where you go.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
Antimony 51: i have no yet performed at any gigs yet but I am sure I will make mistakes, and I guess the best way to deal with it is to laugh it off as everyone makes mistakes.
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
Antimony 51: No i haven’t toured yet, but when I get the chance to I think there will be a lot of interesting stories to tell.
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
Antimony 51: When something big happens in my life, or someone close to me I instantly start thinking of lyrics. I seperatly write music to add these lyrics to later on. When writing the music I have no idea what the lyrics are going to be.
Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?
Antimony 51:I use Bandcamp as my website but my music is also available on Spotify, iTunes, Google Play and YouTube. I use Facebook and Twitter to promote my music.
Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?
Antimony 51: I don’t think it’s too embarrassing but I often listen to my own music haha.
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
Antimony 51: I would just skate and write and record music the whole time and use the money to pay off my house and probably splurge a bit on new skate and music gear.
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
Antimony 51: I am currently working in my garage, and my vocal booth is my fiance’s car. I do plan to build a real vocal booth and recording studio.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
Antimony 51: Facebook has been amazing to promote my music. I would like to thank OneRPM for their help and dedication in getting me noticed.

Antimony 51: I would love to perform with Hellions, those guys are sick. I’ve met them a few times and their music is a huge inspiration to me. We would probably play here in Bunbury so I know all my family and friends would make it.

Antimony 51: I am currently writing and recording my debut album set for release in May 2017.

Antimony 51: It was Korn’s See You On The Other Side. I was excited to listen to it on my own and not have to borrow my sisters iPod,
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
Antimony 51: My newborn daughter is a bit of a handful and work can be pretty demanding but I have a very wonderful fiance who understands what my music means to me, so she is always wanting me to get into the garage and work on my latest album. Also waking up at 4am to do music helps!
