Exposed Vocals catches an exclusive with Playboy Hef – CEO of Playboy Gang Entertainment –

Playboy Hef is the founder and CEO of Playboy Gang Entertainment. Hef is a Capitol Heights, Maryland native. Representing the “Downbottom” side. Hef began rapping in 2014 following his brothers (Dj) death in 2012. Hef has released 5 mixtapes independently including his recent project “Bare Wit Me”, available on Spinrilla and Soundcloud. All his projects are available on his website http://pbgentertainment.com/. As he continues to progress, he works with upcoming artist that will be added to the Playboy Gang roster.

Exposed Vocals: How did you hear about Exposed Vocals? What made you decide to sign up?

Playboy Hef: My management runs my twitter account, they found out about you and we decided it would help benefit our expansion as a brand.

Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?

Playboy Hef: I grew up in Capitol Heights, Maryland. Small hood we call “Down Bottom” right from Fable Street. My brother was murdered one block away & his longtime friend died about a year before that. He died right in front of my grandmother’s house. The whole hood been different ever since. That’s what made me become an artist because my brother always had that dream.

Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?

Playboy Hef: Playboy Hef came about when a friend of mine said I reminded her of a young Hugh Hefner. I always had a lot of females so the name is self-explanatory really lol. Around my way they started calling me “Hefee”, pronounced like “Jefe” which means boss.

Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?

Playboy Hef: All of my music is free now because I don’t do it for money. I make music because it keeps me out of trouble, & this is what my brother wanted. I don’t do free work though, I just release free music.

Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?

Playboy Hef: Keep grinding and worry about that type of stuff as it comes. Build your brand from the ground up & invest in yourself. Young black kids & adults should know how much power runs through our veins & we just gotta take advantage of it. That’s what I would tell anybody. Don’t let nobody shoot your dream down & tell you “you can’t” .

Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?

 

Playboy Hef: I just turn up & have fun. I don’t let mistakes stop anything because we all make em.

Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?

Playboy Hef: I haven’t toured yet. Stay tuned though.

Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?

Playboy Hef: I can be in a room full of distraction & feed off that energy & create. I write anytime, any place. As long as I feel it, I can write it.

Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?

Playboy Hef: pbgentertainment.com is the website for my brand. I use Spinrilla, Soundcloud and LiveMixtapes.

Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?

Playboy Hef: I listen to everything, my confidence level doesn’t allow for me to feel embarrassed.

Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?

Playboy Hef: Capitol Heights will be a better place & safer for the community. You said the money would be given to me, therefore I didn’t work for it, so by default I feel like it should be charitable.

Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?

Playboy Hef: My engineer right now is going crazy, Scoop @thraxxking on twitter. I’m working with Playboy Black, GeeTyme, Cloud9Cam, Lil Wee, Hitta Tae & that’s pretty much it. I’m not into working with everybody because everybody doesn’t always have your best interest at heart.

Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?

Playboy Hef: Management handles that & my promo team.

Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?

Playboy Hef: I would want to perform with Tupac in LA at the House of Blues. Just because of how legendary that would be. In my eyes Tupac is the greatest icon of all time, he influenced almost everybody in some way.

Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?

Playboy Hef: Yes I’m planning on dropping “Dro Bottom” , that is going to be a joint project with all of the artists I named before. It’s a combination of Down Bottom & Dro City. 2 hoods connected by Marlboro Pike. Also “Trappin’ Out Tha Playboy Mansion” is going to go so crazy when it drops.

Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?

Playboy Hef: I would probably be in jail honestly. Music saves me. Only the Lord knows.

Exposed Vocals: Do you remember buying your first album? Who was it? What was going through your head?

Playboy Hef: First album I ever bought was Drake – Thank Me Later. I remember just thinking “Yeah he about to run the game” & It’s exactly what he did lol.

Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?

Playboy Hef: It’s the hardest thing to do lol. But God gets me through it all.

Playboy Hef: A Playboy Hef takeover. Plain and simple, you won’t forget this name.
