Exclusive interview with Swank Davis
Swank Davis a 21 year old rapper from the Bronx, NY comes with an array of styles. The diverse rapper comes on the scene with great influences from Nas, Big, Pac, 50 Cent, OutKast, Pro Era, The Underachievers, TDE, FBZ, etc.. Growing up under a Musical Father, Swank Davis was pushed to gain different styles which correlated to diversity in his music. He has a mixtape Dropping on Wednesday called The Lit Tape. The Lit Tape which features a different sound will just be the beginning of what’s to come.
Exposed Vocals: How did you hear about Exposed Vocals? What made you decide to sign up?
Swank Davis: followed the twitter page and saw what it as an opportunity to get my music out in the world.
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
Swank Davis: I grew up in the Bronx and started playing basketball first but then Music became another outlet for me when I needed to blow off steam and now I’m here with my first mixtape dropping today.
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
Swank Davis: Well I’ve always been fly and just a cool person so people used to say I had Swank, and The Davis part came from Larry Davis a realist that always spoke his mind and was real. He is a big inspiration for me.
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
Swank Davis: It gives the artist the chance to build their fan base so I’m for it. I just dropped my mixtape so yea I do.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Swank Davis: Work hard and get out there and network because you may never know who you run into.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
I haven’t yet but if I did I would just keep going with the flow, the only person who really knows you made the mistake is you.
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
Swank Davis: Haven’t been on tour yet, I would love to soon.
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
Swank Davis: I gather it from everywhere, just hanging around different collectives getting different feels and backgrounds. My songwriting process is really quick I already have ideas in my head. It pays off being a creative genius

Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?
Swank Davis: I don’t really have any every song I listen to fits me because I am diverse
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
Swank Davis: I would buy the best studio and give back to the hungry because I know how it feel to have nothing.
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
Swank Davis: Not yet maybe in the near future. I work with a lot of Logic since I produce all of my records Logic is really all I know how to use
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
Swank Davis: A lot of my friends love my music love my music so they help promote my music and I go on different social medias to network and put the world on to my sound.
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
Swank Davis: I would want to perform at SXSW or The London O2 Arena and I would perform with Pac and the Whole Asap Mob. GANG
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
Swank Davis: New mixtape just dropped and I have a special project on the way that you can catch in a month or two. Stay tuned.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
Swank Davis: Running the world
Exposed Vocals: Do you remember buying your first album? Who was it? What was going through your head?
Swank Davis: My first album I ever bought with my own money was 50 cent get rich or die tryin’ That album meant everything to me I took that and my CD player everywhere. That was the best album ever at the time. I wanted to be 50 cent for a little bit at the time.
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
Swank Davis: It coexists within each other. Music is my life point blank. No turning back now
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?
Swank Davis: A lot of hit tracks and a couple projects and performances. Watch out for me I’m on the rise.
