DJ HOLIDAY & 2 CHAINZ “Wassup Wid It”
‘4am In Decatur’, the new project from DJ Holiday is on the way and nearly four months after dropping “Wassup Wid It,” Holiday taps 2 Chainz for the song’s fire-filled video which jumps right into a typical night in Atlanta. The visuals set the scene of a local neighborhood block, from people making their way home – while others are just starting their day, to neighbors keeping their eyes out. But 2 Chainz and DJ Holiday are there to make sure the entire neighborhood is lit up, as they perform the ominous track on top of an police squad car.
Joined by his French bulldog Trappy, the Drench God dances on top of a squad car while fire surrounds him. Flames emanating from his head, Chainz is also accompanied by children, who dance along to his bars. Meanwhile, Holiday raps along.
“Wassup Wid It” is a single off Holiday’s upcoming project 4am in Decatur. “4am In Decatur is a masterpiece,” he said. “I can’t wait for y’all to hear it.”
As co-owner, host, & DJ for Plush Blue events, DJ Holiday’s buzz grew quickly in the Atlanta area capturing the attention of rising hip hop mogul DJ Drama of the Aphilliates music group. Holiday joined the DJ crew shortly after meeting DJ Drama and started the mixtape series “Holiday Season” dropping his first classic mixtape collaboration EA Sports Center alongside rap star Gucci Mane in 2008. In 2009 DJ Holiday worked with Gorilla Zoe on his “FeedingTime” mixtape as a promotional tool for the artist’s sophomore release, Don’t Feed Da Animals, Gucci Mane’s Writings on the Wall (recorded the day of Gucci’s highly anticipated prisonrelease), and Nicki Minaj’s ground breaking project Beam Me Up Scotty.
Holiday continued gaining national exposure being featured numerous times on MTV’s Mixtape Daily with Gucci Mane, OJ Da Juiceman, and Nicki Minaj respectively. Amongst the southern hip hop community, DJ Holiday has been recognized as the Radio One Inc. Dirty Award’s Mixtape DJ of the Year, TJ’s DJ’s Mixtape DJ of the Year, MTV’s breakthrough DJ of the Year, and national feature profiles in XXL, Hip Hop Weekly, and Ozone Magazine. Holiday lives by the acumen, “I live and die by working harder than the next man, pushing myself to the limit, and not thinking about who’s behind or in front of me… I’ll see you at the top!”
In 2010 DJ Holiday released Holiday Season 3 which produced 1.5 million downloads in 24 hours, Burrprint 2.0 HD which was a number one selling hip hop album according to Nielsen soundscan, and his first single Trapped Out off his upcoming EP “We Working.” Later that year Holiday was given the opportunity to be house DJ for the B.E.T hip hop music awards and was also named 2010 DJ of the year by MTV. In 2009 DJ Holiday started the imprint Commission Music Group with his managers Stix Malone, Keith Fergus (KD) and close friend Jerrod Littleton. The company which has claim to some of the hottest DJ’s and radio personalities nationally has already begun recording Holiday Season the album.
In the next five years, DJ Holiday is sure to have his hands in everything from phone apps, music, film, and endorsements. He is a living testimony that he will not forget where he came from recently accepting an offer for his own primetime 6-10pm radio show at Streetz 94.5 in his hometown of Atlanta produced by business partner Stix Malone. Year in and year out, DJ Holiday continues to make it clear that he is working hard and laying the foundation to be one of the most respected DJs in the music industry…”WE WORKING”
