Daria Tara – Starseed
A romanticism underpins the entirety of Daria Tara’s “Starseed”. Everything about it possesses this poignancy. The exploration of emotion adds to the intimacy that the songs show. With each piece playing off the last she tells an entire story over the course of the EP. Stylistically rooted in a rather elegance dream-pop, the slow speed and grace shown definitely recall a bit of Beach House’s undeniable charm. Elements of electronica do appear throughout though they have a degree of restraint about them. Really the true core of the entirety of the journey comes from her assured vocals that rise above the rest of the sound.
“Golden Dream” opens the collection up and sets the tone for much of what follows. She lets the song unfurl at its own distinctive pace. Surrealist lyricism cascades downwards further adding to the inherent flexibility of the groove. Much heavier into the electronic element “Love Killer” neatly brings together a multitude of keyboards adding to the rather rich tapestry. She also knows when to pull back to leave only the power of her voice to fill the space. Little pings bounce off each other for “Eclipse” has a kaleidoscopic array of colors that intermingle to create this meditative quality about it. By far the most dance-centric out of all the tracks is the fantastic finale of “Lovers On The Run”.
Done with a dignified sense of soul, Daria Tara bares her very heart on “Starseed”.
