“very classic bit of house music” Plebhed – It Wasn’t ft. Sehya
You get a great sounding, very classic bit of house music coming through as this track opens up. It soon evolves into a vintage bit of trance with its synth choices and the peaceful ambiance that emerges as the beat falls away. The peaceful ambiance isn’t overplayed, and the synth soon brings about an energy that is more inspiring in terms of going out, getting up, getting into something, as opposed to laying back and dreaming about the world. The vocal part comes quite unexpectedly, particularly considering the overall style of the piece, but again, this is not overplayed, it’s a minimal element, with a very simple and easy to listen to melody and set of lyrics.
The lyrics have a beautifully reflective sort of poetry to them, so it’s a pleasure to listen to. Even the vocal effect in this case seems to work, its intense, but it helps the vocal melody pass by as more of an additional instrument, instead of the selling point of the whole track. It works well because everything works as a unit. The track in fact ends quite abruptly and could possibly have gone on a little longer. The way the music develops is effective and sets and maintains the right kind of mood.
It’s a great track to lift you out of your current moment, as great music should, and the simplistic nature of the riff and the melody and the beat is counteracted by the intensity of the effects, so you get something that is both calming and somewhat energising, plus fairly memorable. It’s an easy melody to remember, and with the track being quite short there is a likelihood for listening again, listening on repeat, perhaps even adding it to a driving playlist for long journeys.
