IMAN is a British singer and songwriter. She began her music career writing for major international acts, working with artists under labels such as Sony BMG, Polydor, Warner Music and Virgin EMI.Establishing herself in the industry as both a talented vocalist, and a prolific songwriter, many of the records she has worked on have made the official charts, and been certified multi-platinum and gold in countries around the World.
As an artist in her own right, IMAN’s music has strong electronic, r&b, soul and pop influences. Her single ‘Wishing’ hit #3 on The UK Urban Charts and #10 in the UK Pop Commercial Charts. The single made it onto 17 Spotify playlists including Warner’s Topsify and was supported by KISS FRESH. Brands such as NIKE (UK), PUMA (UK & Germany), leading female retailers MISSGUIDED, H&M (Worldwide), Virgin and Dune also playlisted the record. ‘Wishing’ was also played across the Netherlands, Japan and Australia in major retail stores, shopping centres and gyms. ‘Wishing’ made RECORD OF THE DAY and was nominated for BEST UNSIGNED SONG at the Best of British Music Awards.The official remix is by Matt Jam Lamont & Scott Diaz.
‘Naive’ was released with a music video she directed and co – edited which earned her even wider recognition among fans and critics alike.
Known for her authentic British edge and distinctive, soulful vocals, IMAN has proven her talent as a strong live performer at festivals including Radio 1’s Hackney Weekend and the Isle of Wight Festival where she was invited to tour with Rudimental, performing material she had written for the band. She has also written and recorded with Ed Sheeran and Mike Dean (Kanye West, Jay Z, 2Pac, Frank Ocean). In February 2018 IMAN released her newest record called ‘For You’.
Music journalists have described IMAN’s own music as a ‘force of nature that might be unstoppable‘(‘IX Daily’), also claiming ‘the UK has a new vocal powerhouse, with a voice like honey’(‘The Most Radicalist’). Cultural magazine ‘The 405’, recently declared that ‘IMAN’s certainly setting the bar high for herself, and with her latest offering, it’s clear she can exceed it.’ The MOBO AWARDS described her single ‘Naive’ as a ‘’ dreamy, ambient number with emotive vocals’’.
