Bring Me Back by Rome Alexander review
Rome Alexander is a 21 year old up and coming RnB/Neo-Soul artist hailing from Pittsburgh, both a singer and songwriter. His music shows the influence of several RnB and soul artists, with the influence of modern artists like Usher and John Legend combining with older influences like Stevie Wonder and Prince. He has already found success, riding high on the ITunes and Amazon charts with previous releases.
This track, Bring Me Back, immediately makes an impact with Rome’s smooth-as-honey voice entering straight away alongside a slinky RnB groove that builds nicely throughout the track. A high end piano figure is effective, filling out the sound, and the verse has a nice lilting vocal melody.
But it is the superb chorus with its gorgeous descending chord progression that really makes the song stand out, beautifully sung and instantly memorable. The second verse adds some delicious vocal harmonies into the mix and the way the arrangement builds throughout the track keeps the listener interested to the end. More importantly, it stands up to repeated listening.
Overall, I think Rome Alexander has a surefire hit on his hands with this song. The production is faultless and so the track is ‘radio ready’, with a highly commercial sound that will appeal to a broad spectrum of listeners. If he could get to support a current star like John Legend, for example,Rome might find his fanbase growing very rapidly and stardom may well await him.
