Blasphome – Cut From A Different Cloth….
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
Blasphome: Born Esteban Maisonet formerly known as Blasphome CEO of Ambassador Entertainmentllc , Ambassador Cloth , Ambassador Filmz As well as Ambassador Ent Presents Cookin In The Stu. Grew up in the 1980s SouthBronx section of NewYork City in the middle of what we know today as (HipHop’s Golden Age Era). Being young wild and free in the middle of the neighborhood block party Listening to legends like Slick Rick The Ruler while mimicking The human beat box Dougie Fresh just living care free. Born the oldest of three brothers raised in a single parent home having the greatest childhood yet young and unaware to acknowledge we were financially struggling, but it never felt that way mom always did everything in her grasp to make sure we were straight to the best of her ability.SALUTE To Mi Jefa! That’s My Boss in Spanish lol.
What had made me decide on being an artist truthfully was my first album/project entitled (Alpha & Omega Annuit Coeptis Novus Ordo Seclorum) the intensity & energy along side the adrenaline and momentum. That it took to release it to me became the muse in what drew myself closer to pursuing being an artist as time went by it slowly unintentionally progressed becoming second nature and to think all I actually wanted was to make myself a cd of strategically placing artist that I admire out of curiosity on the same records just to know what they would sound like together. Cause only a true admirer of the HipHop culture could relate to what I mean
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Blasphome: I would say the first thing when looking for gigs & Airplay is research.. Researching your demographics.
Who are your core audience ? Where are they from ? Who are the most consistent underground as well as Mainstream Radio stations along side the main venues that best associates with your core audience. And always remember it’s 90% Business 10% music never the other way around The more humble you remain gradually the further you will be.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
Blasphome: I actually haven’t performed & its more of a personal preference at this point I feel as an artist I’m still finding my voice so to speak better yet consider it as honing my craft. So when performing I personally feel it requires your full attention yes be free of coarse be original, but still know the direction you’re heading towards. Slowly I’ll Get to the point of actually performing just not rushing it and enjoying the ride at this present time.
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
Blasphome: Currently I’m not touring at the moment. Yet I have been in the progress of reviewing the proper information required on building a minor 5 city tour all the detail are yet still under review.
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
Blasphome: At this very moment no but as fast as technology is evolving there’s always room for progression and upgrades. Currently these days I opted out for a small vocal station at home just to be able to lay down certain ideas as well delivery before going into the studio. I’m just running the latest version of Logic Pro X off 2 laptops along 2 external 5 t.b. hard drives using Waves Mercury plugins on a itrack solo interface currently on an Audio Technica At40-40 which I’ll be later crossing over to the Neumann TLM-103 off of a pair of Mackie’s CS3’s which do the job perfectly well.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
Blasphome: Personally what works best for me I truly believe is consistency. Earlier I mentioned it’s 90% Business 10% Music & it was with that very consistency and drive as well as passion I have been truly blessed with opportunities in creating solid relationships w underground radio stations college radio stations ,HipHop magazines along HipHop websites. Enjoying the progress while understanding the process within being an artist
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
Blasphome: With no Hesitation I gotta say Madison Square Garden would be my choice. I personally feel it would be a great honor to perform in the same coliseum in which introduced to the world so many talented icons & legends.I mean how official would it be walking the same halls as those before myself. And as far as an Artist well.. That’s a tough one considering every artist brings there very own originality. Yet if had to choose I would say Black Thought from the Roots. I mean what better way to perform at the Square Garden with non other than an iconic legend such as himself.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
Blasphome: Most Definitely I’m currently in the process of releasing my 4th studio album/project entitled (Ground Control Vol.2) Which I consider by far in being one of my best projects created to this very day though I still haven’t decided on the release date as of this I’m in the final mixing & mastering Stages.
