When not working magic in the ‘yo short for studio, Calimar is using his ‘rich mind’, ‘(as friends and family refer to his creativity), to come up with lyrics, rhymes and thoughtful quotes designed to shock as they are heart wrenching truths, such as; “when you get rid of people in your life that didn’t mean you no good, God open up doors for you all you gotta do is trust you do the rest like for real tho’ !” -Calimar White.
Moreover, inspired by his faith, he has come up with such exalting quotes as; “When you hold grudges your hands aren’t free to catch blessing.” When it comes to performance Calimar White Isn’t one to contend with. Extremely busy making more music and videos. On November 18th he released ‘Ms. Cloud’ music video. He is currently working on his third project. ” I like to hang out with people who make me forget to look at my phone. ” A tiny glimpse of a serious musical artist within a world of options and choice.
The Featured track ‘B.A.E’ Refers to a term couples use to refer to each other, to express endearment. ‘You don’t call everyone “bae” ‘… This is a story about the desire of what every man ‘Thinks’is his dream of what he wants in a woman and a description of what he wants in a companion. “… The body, money, courage, beauty, and strength, along with a touch of wickedness and not afraid to ‘ride or die’. She would go to church then afterwards ‘fire one up’… “a woman from the streets…” The only problem is… ready… she is not what he needs. A complex story-line Accompanied by sound effects and programming keyboards to sound like guitars, hand-claps, progressive cymbals, percussion, bells and a host of other unique sound effects to bring about the production to an outstanding echo effect.
The vocals are smoothly layer down, the rhyming and rhythm are effective and the point is clear. If it sounds like a dream, its meant to. As everything that the ‘natural man’ desires, chances are its not in his best interest. Nevertheless, it doesn’t stop him from wanting. He begins by dedicating the song ‘Bae’ to ‘Bae’ and to everyone that has a ‘Bae’. Overall, listening to Calimar White’s ‘Bae’ got me thinking about mine… Im going to have to work hard for my ‘bae’ if this is the type if woman he secretively desires that includes looking my best in my stilettos. I enjoyed listening to Calimar White’s ‘Bae’ be ready for more music from this amazing artist in the near future.

Exclusive Interview:
Exposed Vocals: How did you hear about Exposed Vocals?
…. I heard about Exposed Vocals from doing what I do everyday and that’s just on my phone looking for ways to get my music out there.
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
…. I grew up in St.Petersburg, Florida where I was involved in alot of athletics as a young kid. But unfortunately, extracurricular activities turned into criminal activities. It wasn’t until then I started to think music would be the only outlet to do something constructive with my life. So in 2010 I really started taking it serious despite me being in a cell with two more years left until I can actually see if I have what it takes, but I jumped right on it. I started reading more and just opening up my mind ya know. It wasn’t until 2012 I recorded for the 1st time ever in a studio and from there I just kept at it.
Exposed Vocals: What is your inspiration behind your music?
…. Honestly, I don’t know where the inspiration came from. But I can tell you that I have a great uncle by the name of Johnny Killen “Johnny K.” Who was a musician, cut a couple records, toured with James Brown, Sam and Dave. In 1968 he made an appearance on the Tonight Show, Bill Cosby was guest host. I hope mentioning Bill doesn’t discredit my uncle’s accomplishments lol. But umm, like I said that was in 1968, more than 4 decades ago so I guess I’m the new generation of musical talent to emerge from family. Can I use that as inspiration? Lol
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
…. Unfortunately, I’m still a local guy so there’s a yes and no to that question. I share my music for free but I make sure I get some revenue from it and that comes from investing in myself and knowing what to invest in cause there’s alot of scammers in this industry especially online.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
…. You just have to network and invest I believe. Actually getting out there has a big effect on you as a artist because people still do interact with each other in person and I feel you can’t really get to know someone until you’re around them in person so you definitely have to network whether it’s handing out CD’s, going to different studios, radio stations etc. And once you finally take those steps hopefully you invested in your craft to make sure it looks and sounds presentable because if you truly believe and yourself and your product is A1 then someone and somebody will take interest in you and pick you up. So I’d have to say just believe, invest, and network.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
…. I can’t remember if I made a mistake or not, I try to perfect everything I do. It’s just a mind thing to me. Whatever I see in my mind, that’s how I’ll perform. But of course I practice before my performance.
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
…. Naw I haven’t actually gotten out on tour yet. But it’s coming soon. Hopefully after the release of my next album due in spring of 2015.
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
…. I gather all my information at work. I write all my rhymes at work or if I’m in the studio. I feel free at work for some strange reason lol. But for as my songwriting process, I’m sorry but that’s something I can’t disclose. My job is to just keep delivering good music.
Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? Do you have a Facebook or Twitter? Do you use Bandcamp, Spotify, ExposedVocals or SoundCloud to share your music?
….I have a twitter, Facebook, Instagram, spotify, ExposedVocals, iTunes, Vevo channel, YouTube etc lol. Just Google “Calimar White” and all my material will pop up.
Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player? ….I like to listen to Katy Perry. Even though these songs are kind of old but the only two songs I need of hers on my iPhone is “Fireworks” and “Teenage Dream” don’t judge me.
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
…. I’ll keep working and invest it into my music to double that money. Gotta keep working and hustling because the talented always loses to the hardworkers. And you always have to play like you’re 20 points behind. Reallaaayyyeeee lol
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
…. Right now I record in suped-up home studio. It delivers A1 quality sounding music so I really don’t need all the fancy stuff.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
… I definitely take advantage of technology and use any source of social media I can. Sometimes I’ll have to pay but you gotta take a few losses and chances here and there. But like I said in one of the previous questions before, it’s nothing like physical interaction. Making an impression on someone in real life is way more precious than doing via tv, online etc. I feel like the more you’re out there the more lives you’ll be able to change especially if you have good music. So when the fame comes, you want people to actually be able to say “man I remember him, that boy gave me a cd at the store before, or he recorded a song at this studio before” ya know, it’s all about making impressions on people and giving them a moment they can genuinely live with.
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
…. I want to perform with T.I. In the Tropicana Stadium in St.Petersburg, Florida. The reason being is because when it comes to influence, T.I. had a major influence on me. It wasn’t until 2001 when he released “I’m Serious” I started listening to lyrics and paying attention what rappers had to say. And he in particular became my favorite because we were both from the south and I understood him more literally from the accent to the words he was using. Til this day I still aspire to follow in his footsteps. The positive way lol even though we both did our time. And The Tropicana Stadium comes from, ummm, well simply because it’s right down the street from the neighborhood I grew up in, mainly Bethel Heights apartments located right across the street from the little league football team I played for, St.Pete Lil Devil’s and right down the street from Tropicana Stadium where the Tampa Bay Devil Ray’s play.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
…. I have a second album I’m releasing in the spring of 2015 titled Arlington, Florida. I titled it that because Florida is where I’m from but my music was born in Arlington, Texas. That’s where it all started, like I said I didn’t record a song ever in life until 2012. So yea, be on the look out for that. And I’ll be releasing my new single title “B.A.E.” in the beginning of January 2015. So definitely be on the lookout for that as well. But other than that I’m just working. I have 2 more shows this year so when that’s over, well, I’ll still be working and pushing myself to get where I want to be. HYM
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
….I’ll probably be working at the job I’m at now. It’s a good job so I don’t think I’ll be struggling or anything lol
Exposed Vocals: Do you remember buying your first album? Who was it? What was going through your head?
…. My first album purchase was lol T.I. “I’m serious”. Can’t really remember what was going through my head at the moment but I was just elated to have my own copy and listen to it whenever I want. That was back when Walkman CD players were popular.
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
….I just pray really. That’s all I can do and that’s all there is to do when you’re pursuing something you really want in life. There’s only one person that can reward you for that and that’s the man up above.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward too for the rest of 2014 and beyond?
…. Fans, well I’ll rather say the Universe should just look forward to nothing but, Calimar White. I’ll even be here when 2025 rolls around. Remember That. Reallaaaayyyeee!!!
