“Atlanta’s hip-hop bass-heavy sound and nouveau-riche raps” Lately (Prod. by LukeWhite) by DudeDidIt
Hard as it is for anyone under 25 to believe, there was a time when Atlanta rap was the red-headed stepchild of hip-hop. New York’s rap purists will look down their noses at anything, but they reserved particular scorn for rap from the South, and rap from the ATL in particular.
It’s 2017, though, and the A’s status as one of the capitals of hip-hop was confirmed long ago…
ATL has been a rap factory for more than two decades, but the debut of a groundbreaking TV show and the reemergence of a trap legend cemented the city as the undeniable hip-hop capital.
At street level, Atlanta’s hip-hop bass-heavy sound and nouveau-riche raps define contemporary hip-hop. You’ve heard the city’s influence in Chicago’s drill scene, and now — despite years of regional resistance — you’ll hear the trap drums ringing in New York and even farther away, in Beijing and Seoul. Atlanta is the genre’s undisputed capital and has been since the turn of the century, around the time Outkast’s “Ms. Jackson” seized control of FM radio and MTV. (I don’t mean to discount the individual career peaks achieved by New York artists)
Atlanta is arguably the most layered music community in hip-hop. It cranks out at least three new stars every year. So, since we at Exposed Vocals specialize in up-and-coming artists – Lets take a look at “DudeDidIt” and his single ‘Lately’ He is currently setting out on getting his name known and this track was produced by Luke White. Dude enters the track and immediately captivates with an arresting rapping delivery style and memorable hook.
“Lately it’s all been the same / a yes is a no / a friend is a foe / a left is a right and a right is a wrong.. but life goes on”
The lyrics confront some of the issues he faces as a young rapper trying to make it. Overall, this is an impressive hip hop track that shows DudeDudit is a force to be reckoned with in the hip hop scene.
Overall, this is an inspiring and enjoyable hip-hop track that will be popular with his existing fanbase and should bring him some new ones. With strong production and a catchy, commercial hook it is also very well suited to radio. Couple that with a great video, and I think Dude may have a hit on his hands. It’s also a necessary and important message to get out to the world right now, so I hope he finds a lot of success with it.
