Alex Coombs – Stay at home “loaded with great vibes”
‘Stay At Home’ is the perfect song to embrace this summer. The whole recording is loaded with great vibes and is creatively structured to feature a number of different moments, all of which add to the feel good sound of the finished piece. The reggae vibe is strong yet there’s also a stylish bit of rock music intertwined by means of a slightly fuller beat and a smooth guitar solo just minimally performed in various snippets throughout. The wah-wah effect adds a further touch of fun to the mix, and behind this you get all the classic sounds of the Caribbean.

The leading vocal throughout this release has a pleasant tone and a lot of character to it that really puts a personal stamp of identity on the track. The melody has a slightly melancholic mood to it, contrasting a little with the upbeat nature of the music, and this actually works well in taking the track to a new level. The lyrics offer unique storytelling that has you following every word intently. The switch from the verses to the hook is cleverly satisfying, the tension of the storyline and sound during the verses is calmed by the relief of the hook.
This particular fusion of styles and genres is hugely enjoyable, and as mentioned, it makes for an easy going and memorable single to see you smoothly into the summer. The hook melody is one that really sinks in quite quickly, but much more than this, the music itself makes for an easy and reliable choice to put on at the end of a hard day or the start of a weekend or holiday. It’s a song with a little bit of substance, a message, and this is delivered passionately throughout.
