Singer, songwriter, actress, model, Macy Medford was born and raised in Katy, Texas.  She has been making music her whole life – officially starting in the industry at the age of 12. Now 19 years old and living in Nashville, TN, Macy is attending Belmont University’s highly selective Musical Theater program.
Her debut on a national Disney Channel commercial came when she was 12 years old. She won the Grand Prize of The Dallas Songwriters Association Contest for her song “Just Me and You” and opened for Kids Bop at the House of Blues in Dallas and Houston. Macy was Nominated for Pop Artist of The Year at age 14 at the Los Angeles Music Awards and released her freshman album on iTunes, with an impressive CD release event with over 500 people in attendance at Stereo Live in Houston, Texas.
InPlay Records – her Houston-based label – will be releasing her new EP this fall, including some of her favorite original songs, adding some of her new tracks as well. Macy is an avid songwriter who loves to create lyrics that reflect upon her own personal feelings and experiences as a teenager. “My songs tend to focus on anything that is going on in my life at the time- boys, friends, and heartbreak,” she explains. “But at the heart of every song is a sense of empowerment to overcome every day struggles. I want people to be able to laugh and let loose when they listen to my music, but I also want my music to be a place of refuge where people can turn to when life has gotten them down”.
InPlay CEO, Eddie Corral says, “She is one of the most amazing, gifted talents I have ever worked with.”
Macy’s love for music extends far beyond being a recording artist. She has a love for Theatre in which she has played leading roles such as Janet Van de Graff in The Drowsy Chaperone, Lucy in the play Dracula, and Marion the Librarian in The Music Man to name a few. “I grew up with a love for musical theatre and when I would listen those albums, I craved being the one on stage to perform them myself,” says Macy. “I got to play Annie when I was 8, and that was what really kicked off my love for performing and my career.”
Macy’s live show will be extremely upbeat, fun and entertaining. “I’m a musical theatre major – so I plan on incorporating that larger-than-life experience that a musical can give an audience,” she explains. “It will be filled with new songs that aren’t released yet, and I plan on performing a few songs on the piano.”
Macy enjoys using her talents to help in the community as well. She has been a 6-year member of National Charity League philanthropic organization and has performed for the Houston Astros, The United States Army, The American Cancer Society, The Roger Clemens Foundation and many more.
