There is never a dull moment with the quirky, art-forward band and their ironic sense of humor – Fictionist “Free Spirit”
On their new EP, Free Spirit, Fictionist has created accessible and honorable art, a creative and truly interesting collection of songs to listen to. Although the title track “Free Spirit” is the high point, a delicious pounding dance track, this 4-song EP delivers a collection of super catchy, intelligent songs.
Born out of Provo, this four-piece is equally strong as songwriters as they are musicians. Their unique sound features two lead-vocalists, Stuart Maxfield and Robert Connolly, that trade leads and creative counterpunches throughout the EP. Drummer, Aaron Anderson and guitar/bass/synth-player Brandon Kitterman round out the rhythm section with driving beats that pay complement to the haunting guitars and screaming solos.

There is never a dull moment with the quirky, art-forward band and their ironic sense of humor. The music video for the single “Free Spirit”, shows the musical foursome goofing off on the set of a seemingly epic film, where the director chooses to answer phone calls from his famous friends (Adam Levine, Bruce Springsteen, etc.) instead of listening to band’s requests. Even the EP artwork and the band’s press photos beg attention.
Fictionist have been handed a number of awards early on such as Best Band in Utah 2015 – City Weekly. They’ve also toured with such notables as Vampire Weekend, Neon Trees and Imagine Dragons, and will be on tour in support of the Free     Spirit EP throughout the Fall and Winter of 2016.  Â
