Sensationally stylish bit of rock and blues “Something about fishin'” by Tim W Byrd
This track is a sensationally stylish bit of rock and blues, the whole thing grabs your attention from the very moment you press play, and that’s a great way to start. The guitars sound great, the distorted rhythm alongside the swagger of that solo part is everything you’d hope for with rock and blues music.
The stop and start nature of those opening, distorted guitar bars sets the scene and the vibe straight away. The instrumental elements play their parts perfectly throughout, the song is well written and structured superbly so that everything simply needs to do what is required of it and the music will cast it’s spell.
The verse melody captures your attention well alongside that opening and leading guitar riff, and the switch up to the chorus melody is well suited and well timed – the big change fits well and comes just in time to take you willingly along for the ride. There’s a slight lack of connection in terms of the leading vocal and the lyrics, from a listening perspective, it’s hard to make out some of the lines, and it’s likely that this is a production or mixing issue. It’s a minor thing, and this song is blatantly the sort of thing that requires and aches for you to hear it being performed live anyway, with a full band; likely to be something quite epic, high energy, one of those very real and memorable moments out and about.
The title of the track is wonderfully quirky and unusual, it’s one that oozes character before you even listen to the music. Then when you do listen, you get this laid back, good vibes sort of feeling from everything about it. The leading vocal has a definite uniqueness to it, the sound has a lot of character, and a very specific vocal style that is very fresh and new sounding. That chorus melody will almost certainly get caught in your mind.
